“She’s just a translator” shows that you don’t understand what translation is. Some of this comes from the ‘automation’ of translation, through things like Google translate. It’s as though it’s just looking words up in a dictionary. No. It’s an art and a science at once. To get meaning and feeling.

I'm quite proud of this attempted translation of a manifestly untranslatable song by Serge Gainsbourg. The rhyme scheme is far too complex to allow it to be both a literal and a poetic translation of the original. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

With Penelope Keith’s passing, I got to thinking about Paul Eddington, in his final days, facing the camera that one last time, despite the shitty hand life had dealt him, and the courage it must have taken to do so. Given the chance to spin some grandstanding bullshit, he chose to say this instead:

“A journalist once asked me what I would like my epitaph to be and I said I think I would like it to be ‘he did very little harm’. And that’s not easy. Most people seem to me to do a great deal of harm. If I could be remembered as having done very little, that would suit me”.

We're very close to releasing our song, La Déesse, and therefore it's time to design a cover. We're planning to sell this as a limited edition print as well. Any takers?

A half finished lino cut. The lino will form part of a two colour block print, but at this point simply has an orange Sharpie line drawing of a Citroën DS which I've then engraved into the lino with a V section gouge, also pictured. The intention is for the car to be shown in outline with the background and most of the car surface being blue. The DS engraving is basically complete, though some lines may need to be deepened and some highlights emphasised; there will also be a negative space for the second colour block.
