From widespread racist violence, to attacks on places of worship and burning down homes and businesses of people of colour, our new PM is inheriting a country which is ripping at the seams. Why Britain needs an anti-racism strategy right now

A new prime minister is an opportunity to change course on the government’s misguided, cruel and unworkable asylum and immigration policies. We need a humane asylum system that means people can be safe and can rebuild their lives.

Andy Burnham has just pledged to end rough sleeping - which is great. Ending homelessness means ending it for everyone, including people in the asylum and immigration system. Currently, homelessness is designed into the asylum process - this needs to change if the PM is going to achieve his goal 1/4

The UK has introduced immigration or asylum legislation almost every year over the past decade. Yet people still wait years for asylum decisions, poor outcomes are routinely overturned on appeal & too many trafficking survivors aren't identified or supported. Today MPs will debate YET another bill 🧵

A change in PM should be a chance to rethink, but it appears that the immigration and asylum bill will be introduced next week, a bill that will do nothing to help the asylum system run more smoothly while making life harder for those seeking protection in the UK. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

As we celebrate Refugee Week this week and focus on courage, we wanted to highlight the amazing courage we see each week from the young people we support at our youth hub. They leave behind their homes, their family, their friends and their culture.

Refugee Week begins today. This year we’re celebrating courage, and we see it every day in the young people rebuilding their lives in the UK. We see it in their determination to study, work, make friends and to play a role in their new community.
