the reason AGI is such a useless word is that it was coined in the pre-LLM era, when we knew how to train narrow intelligences but generality was a major challenge that felt out of reach. LLMs are not the AGI that was imagined, but they’re straightforwardly AGI, so people bicker over outdated terms
