Under-covered aspect to the need for extensive, aggressive, effective, and harsh investigations, trials, and sentences for corrupt oligarchs and their pet lawmakers, cops, judges, and other officials: there is no other way to even begin to think about restoring credibility on the global stage.

This is an essential point. FDR’s First Hundred Days were all over the place ideologically and a bit messy, but the reaction across the board was “finally, they’re trying!” Doesn’t matter if Trump is going to veto laws, at least show the nation you’re actually trying to solve these problems.

Been thinking about this—substance matters but maybe the perceived momentum matters even more. Like, whether you lean more towards accountability or oversight or ___, the goal should be endless activity. Show the country that this Congress is On The Case(s). Democrats are the Do-Something Party.

Absolute devastation and I love it. The MAGA movement's political power must be destroyed for democracy to endure. This is a decent start. Now they gotta tax the billionaires out of political power.

NBC News projects Democrats win control.

The NBC News Decision Desk is continuing to project races. Our estimate indicates Democrats will ultimately wind up with a 83-seat majority.
NBC News Estimate
259 Estimated Democratic Seats
176 Estimated Republican Seats

The last time Democrats had something like this margin was in the first two years of the Obama administration (257-178), but that majority was soon crushed by the Tea Party wave in 2010. Political power doesn't last forever. Use it or lose it.

yes! this is the Mamdani Lesson. for the general public, it matters a great deal that you are Doing Something. the priority for the next congress should be to move fast on the lowest hanging fruit. (i think this will require filibuster reform at the very least)

Hosting the G20 at Trump's resort would be advertising to the whole world that Trump doesn't care about the massive repudiation of his corruption just delivered by voters. The least Trump can do is move it to a different venue in Miami that he doesn't personally profit from.

- A record of 2,600 Democratic women running for seats in state legislatures helped flip 12 majorities and break 11 supermajorities. - At least 14 Democratic women will serve as governors, a record high. - Four states elected their first woman governor: Georgia, Minnesota, Ohio, and Tennessee.

There is much to celebrate this week, but I want to call specific attention to historic gains Democratic women made in representation: - For the first time in history, over 100 Democratic women will serve in the U.S. House. - At least 16 Democratic women will serve in the Senate.

Affordability just revived democracy. But to safeguard it, Democrats have to change the playbook, not just the slogans. The economy needs to be rebuilt from the essentials up — to restore public power, put a floor under livelihoods, and a ceiling on private wealth.
