Most people use clocks to tell the time, but I can mark the hour by my elderly neighbour's noises. He's just gone into his garden to emit his signature 10pm boistrous belch, meaning it's time for me to go to bed. Goodnight then, until I am awoken by his 8am world-ending sneeze.

Reminder about this lovely interview I did with @womenofttrpg.bsky.social - nice read on a Friday morning ❤️

We’re kicking off our new season of awesome interviews with the one and only @maraholmes.bsky.social ! Mara has been bringing epic tales to the TTRPG space for over 10 years, as the GM for HighRollers, as Calianna on Critical Role, and as a celebrated TTRPG writer. ko-fi.com/post/Feature...

A portrait photo of Mara smiling to camera. She is a white woman with has long, ash blonde hair and is wearing glasses and a cute white and botanical shirt under a dark waistcoat. There are all manner of awesome nerdy items on shelves behind her, including art and a sword. Mara’s name is on a banner at the bottom of this image.

It really saddens me that when we have news of serious/fatal incidents with Looksmaxxers, it’s turned into a joke. Men’s mental health is so poorly supported & these guys are clearly struggling with dysmorphia & mania.Using them as a punchline tells young men there is no safe space to be vulnerable…

Who I support in a world sporting tournament comes down to a very petty factor: how good your kit looks. Bold, bright colours & matching combos? I’m all in. Greys, browns, that weird pale piss yellow? May you suffer a thousand defeats.

Every now and again, all I can think about is Ned Flanders' cold hard reads of the Simpson family when he has his meltdown. 'Ooh, okay, duuuuuuude, I wouldn't want you to have a cow, maaaaaaan! Here's a catchphrase you'd better learn for your adult years: "Hey, buddy, GOT A QUARTER?!"' Yikes.

Backrooms! I was so stressed and uncomfortable watching it, and I loved every single second. URGH. Every detail - cinematography, set design, lighting, sound design - was so immaculately thought out and communicated so much and had purpose and impact. Exactly what horror should be. BACKROOMS!

April & May were slow reading months, but I did have the immense privilege of reading Fonda Lee’s new book - the Last Contract of Isako (corporate samurai on a dystopian, survivalist moon colony? YES). Greatly enjoyed everything I read; especially the coziness of Early Mornings at the Laksa Café

Spent most of April being sick and brain foggy (also Pokopia happened), so my library reservations list really piled up 😅 Getting stuck in with Early Mornings at the Laksa Café, because I really miss my kopitiams

“I will NOT sacrifice the Oxford comma. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They assimilate the em dash and we fall back. They capture ‘not just X but y’ and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!”

I know the tweet is Al generated when they use " ," before and.

I’m not saying I have a type, but I apparently read 5 books set in haunted houses in March. Buffalo Hunter Hunter was an absolute masterclass in horror and revenge - highly recommend. Ten Thousand Doors of January is a beautiful, rich fantasy oozing with love and adventure.
