fwiw, I've had positive experiences in r/prolactinoma, a subreddit for the type of pituitary tumor I have. It's a very supportive group, esp for ppl who've just been diagnosed or are experiencing side effects from treatment. Though technically our brains were already broken when we joined, lol

this kind of behavior can also affect other communities. a few hobby discords i am in have been slowly whittled down to just a few people who complain constantly about everyone around them who doesn't mask, doesn't take mental illness seriously, etc. it's exhausting. Regular people move on.

Same for me. I wanted to adopt but because I had a child under 10, cats in the home, and didn’t want a pit-mix, adoption was not possible. And I also wanted a certain personality. So I bought my puppy and she’s just the best companion and friend. No regrets.

Our house had a similar experience. We tried adopting a rescue but the dog had PTSD and couldn’t safely adapt to our house. The puppy we bought was raised in the chaos and is flourishing.
