About to be 3 days offline. It's weird to be nervous/excited about not seeing the next AI feature get released over the weekend. Digital detox, here we come.
The testable unit is (offer x channel) as a pair. Every test is a distribution test.
I took 3 years to switch out of startups, do consulting, and travel with my family. Sometimes a break is needed We did some stuff in Scotland. Watch the long form video if you need some rest. youtu.be/fr7off8Sov0 S3E8 - Living in Scotland for A Month
If you want to be great at something, you have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Over-performance necessitates getting uncomfortable.
I love my kids but if I have to hear of one more story about a VR game called Gorilla Tag….

I’m convinced this morning that my love language is not creating shit for me to maintain or clean up.
TIL that it takes 10 weeks (!!) to start building muscle with weight lifting. First 3 weeks are mostly repairing damage, so size = swelling, not muscle growth. Gonna say it again. I believe doing the simple, difficult, compounding thing over time is almost always the answer to "what should I do?"
If you haven’t done this yet are you even using AI bro? 🤣
Remember when too many browser tabs would crash your computer. Now it’s Claude Code terminals. Welcome to the new era.

Is there a thing where I can put a GitHub repo behind a paywall?
Thanks for ruining visual voicemail for us all, call spammers. Letting my voicemail box fill up like a 90 year old grandma does because I can't take it anymore.
Heads up, Shopify stores are now being widely used to commit fraud, selling user's credit card info. Just had almost 30 transactions come in. Same bank. Same descriptor. Same person owned one Shopify store. Extremely hard to detect.

You know I'm in a more relaxed season when I can catch up on a travel video. ✅ Only 2.5 years behind, but whatever.
I kept Claude's status page pinned in a tab to know if it was up before blaming my own code. So I built StatusGlance — a small macOS menu-bar app showing live service status as one colored ✽. Click for per-component history. Any Statuspage site. https://github.com/nateritter/status-glance
Introduced my 2 boys to Monty Python and the Holy Grail tonight. Epic. Totally forgot how good and ridiculous it was.

You know what's a great feeling? Exercising hard. Then getting to work without feeling the need to check email. Get straight into focus. Really enjoying this right now.
Been thinking about legacy and generational history lately. I’m sad that because of digitization we will look back at this time and think Mr Beast was what we all did all day long. The things we gave our attention to became our history because we have little else to say otherwise.
PRs are a gold mine of AI self-improvement waiting to happen. Don't like how AI is coding? Teach it with your old PRs. Train it with every PR after that. It'll get your preferences, styles, and more correct first time. Want to try the plugin I made that does this all for you? Looking for testers.
Me: Show me where LLMs directly add to the quality of experience connecting with my friends and family. Others: Well, they could… Me: Nope. Moat. <walks away>
LLMs + memory = the new version of the social media tribe bubble
Is there an open source close of Instagram on ATProto yet? Has to be already vibe coded right?
What helps someone be open to being wrong? Curiosity. If you have it, it's pretty obvious even in casual conversation, so you can also ID it in people. Adopt it yourself, to be smarter. And hire accordingly.
This post is not about business, product, or technology.
The more you’re attached to your idea (the product, the UX, the feature, the target customer, the market, the competitor, the differentiation, the price, the tech stack, the name, the colors), the less you can notice when it’s wrong. Hold everything lightly.
Didn't even think about it till I saw it. 100 repos on Github alone. Not even counting the years before while on SVN, and then no repos at all. That's a lotta stuff.
