One only has to to back and read "The Spy Who Loved Me." It's basically a Jim Thompson novel about an armed thug trapped at a motel and forced to kill mobsters. Pure pulp.
Agreed. The bulk of pre-Craig Bond movies were closer to Fast and Furious movies than they are to John Le Carre!
This is my "the next Batman should have Adam West vibes" hill to die on. The Broccoli family is convinced that Bond is high art because of the early Craig era. It's pulp! The books were pulp, most of the movies are pulp, and that's fine.

People imagine that when we’re talking about cutting the number of stops in half, you’re making people walk twice as long. But in fact you’re really making them walk like 20% longer because they already had a significant walk to the street with the bus, down to the subway transfer platform, etc.
