A state that redraws its legislative maps before every election to maximize advantage for the incumbent party is not a democracy or a republic and in any case obviously violates the guarantee clause, among many others. I would like to see Pritzker and Newsom declare a state tax receivership fund whereby citizens pay their federal tax liabilities into a state-run escrow account rather than directly to the IRS. The state can hold these funds in trust for the federal government until Trump obeys the Impoundment Act.

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland. And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.

I think we are going to have a Democratic-controlled Senate. And all we will need for the leadership of that Democratic Senate to do is hold actual, real, impeachment trials. As the Constitution requires. Not the bullshit fake trials like the ones that the Senate held in 2020 and 2021...
Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.
