FWIW, before pitching the book, I floated the idea of having Elise credited as a co-writer. She didn't want it. Someday it'll happen, on a future project? Maybe?! Either way, I owe Elise a profound THANK YOU for her input!
--without betraying her character. And those big conversations in the last issue were the result of our going back and forth talking about what these characters WOULD say, how they WOULD react, in these crazy situations. She brought so much insight, you guys. I can't overstate it.
First and foremost, though, my wife @elisehughey.bsky.social was totally integral to the process of writing this book. Especially Sarah's voicemails: every line was poured over, discussed, dissected, reassembled, reconfigured, edited to really allow for a natural flow that carried the most STORY--
And I also have a small team of color assistants who do flats for me, @neilak20.bsky.social and @kaistarlight.bsky.social. Colors are a HUGE part of my process and they make it possible for me.
First, my editor @rpxcarroll.bsky.social was there the whole time, totally supportive throughout. Ryan was great to work with, pushed back at the right times, and thankfully brought an open mind to some of the wilder ideas in this book.
I do enjoy collaborating and being ABLE to collaborate, but there is nothing that brings me the joy of a solo project like this. But "SOLO" is not entirely accurate. Yes, the vision for the project is personal, but it still takes a team to make this happen.
So, the last issue of IS TED OK? dropped almost a week ago, so maybe now I'll compile some thoughts in a thread!? First, again, huge thanks to everyone who bought it, read it, and helped spread the word. This is a project that managed to keep momentum through six issues and it was so exciting!
