Today I wrote to Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Department for Culture, Media and Sport and to the Deputy Director of TV and Broadcasting, Department for Culture, Media and Sport asking them to issue a Public Interest Intervention Notice under section 42 of the Enterprise Act 2002.

David Ellison in his op-ed wrote ‘Unfortunately, I can't give anyone a view into my heart and mind’, this coming from the person who is wanting to merge creative talent. The ability of giving a view into your heart and mind is exactly what the arts do - he’s not fit for the job. #BlockTheMerger

Science at its best develops a sustainable future where everyone benefits, not just to exist but where we all thrive. Full of individual achievement, it is collaboration across borders which advances science. Cutting Jodrell Bank seriously undermines our future and caps our curiosity and creativity.

Keep up the fight, sustain the pressure and remain focused. This is #GoodTrouble across the board. Grab this energy by the handfuls. Exceptional. Well done to everyone who chooses to stand up and speak up to protect free speech and creative freedom. #BlockTheMerger – it’s not over.

The Ellisons believed their relationship with Trump would help speed this merger through Together, the #BlockTheMerger coalition & the state AG's proved them wrong Proud that @democracydefendersfund.org helped lead the fight—it matters for our democracy My full statement 👇

London is a safe, inclusive, open, and a leading progressive city in the world. It is not what some need you to believe it is, so as to fuel their propaganda and financial gain or to advance their insidious political ambitions. Londoners, like New Yorkers and Angelenos, with solidarity, see you.

Blocking the merger is not about one political side or the other. Don’t fall for that. The merger will negatively affect everyone from patron to professional. Higher prices, less choice and singular control of narrative. If you want to protect freedom of speech and creativity, then #BlockTheMerger

HASHTAG BLOCK THE MERGER WRITTEN IN RED IN WHITE BACKGROUND WITH FOUR RED CORNER ICONS

My office and attorneys general nationwide have secured an emergency order blocking the unlawful merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. This is a critical first win in our case to ensure this megamerger never sees the light of day.

The economic terms of this merger make no sense for Paramount shareholders. If Paramount’s news networks are watered down to appease the administration, the public stop tuning in and will be less informed. Read about the lawsuit FPF attorneys filed:

The deal threatens Paramount and its stockholders, as well as the press and public who rely on CBS and CNN to remain informed

You hear a lot of things about a lot of people in this profession, some true, some mean, mostly false. Exceptional actors are exceptional not by warrant of training or practice, but by being exceptional human beings first, full of doubt, teeming with courage. Only good ever heard about Sam Neill.

Oral tradition, the passing down of our shared history over millennia is a defining characteristic of being human. The basic right to communicate freely using only words must be peacefully defended. Storytelling is who we are. N With Kind permission: Art for Freedom by Obey Giant/Shepard Fairey

The impactful visuals of the power of the pen and printing press recognize the importance of a free press that seeks the truth and shares the stories of American life to inform our citizens, and strengthen our democracy. Together, these symbols seek to honor the journalists who write the first draft of our nation’s history and serve as reminders of the enduring value of the written word. A printing press with the American flag centre with a raised arm with a clenched fist holding a fountain pen with a broken chain symbolising freedom. Freedom of the press is written top centre and defend your freedom written bottom centre. Colours are cream, marine, navy, red and grey.

We are losing beautiful people because of ugly people. Mona Khalil dedicated her life to the best of what humanity can be and showed us all how much better we can be when our focus is not on ourselves. Do what you can and do something meaningful. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/j...

State AG’s can and must move to stop the Paramount-Warner merger. Contact your representatives. The integrity, independence and diversity of the media landscape are at stake, along with the livelihoods and futures of thousands of industry workers. Creative freedom and expression must remain open.
