“Shortly afterwards, the 85-year-old reacted to the news from Nuremberg's Palace of Justice by saying ’it must be a joke‘ and thanked those who had gathered to applaud her. ’If you clap a little bit more I may share this prize with Trump,‘ she joked.”

More like a badge of honor. - A proud half Norwegian, American citizen Trump: "This is an indelible stain on the country of Norway," www.bbc.com/news/article...

Bad headline. Correction: 'OpenAI withdraws three preprints THE day after releasing 722 manuscripts' (not "three reprints a day" have been withdrawn, which is how I read it). OpenAI: “We welcome scrutiny and feedback from the mathematical community [in our ongoing effort to exploit free labor]”

Wait....... OpenAI withdraws three preprints a day after releasing 722 manuscripts on unsolved math problems retractionwatch.com/2026/10/08/o...

Regarding the adversarial collaboration pitting IIT vs. GNWT: “…we disagree with the broader conclusion many people have drawn: that the enterprise of theory building in this domain has been vindicated and, therefore, that theories of consciousness have earned their keep.”

The Independent article is terrible and misleading. Dr. Loh came to the opposite conclusion: “The brain is one organ,” says study co-author Kyle Loh, a development biologist at Stanford... “But it’s built in two different parts that connect and work together.” www.nature.com/articles/d41...

How to make a brain: new experiments challenge existing picture

Research also uncovers an efficient way to grow hindbrain cells from stem cells — a difficult feat.

Not that anyone will listen to me, but why doesn't [MS NOW, CBS, CNN] interview an expert like Timnit Gebru, Emily Bender, Margaret Mitchell, or Abeba Birhane to explain what actually happened! Kokotajlo: "agents... managed to hack out of their boxes" [BECAUSE HUMANS WERE CARELESS ABOUT SECURITY!]

So how about this for a "pause AI" proposal: "pause credulous AI reporting". No more media about "breakthroughs" or "rogue agent swarms" or ... UNLESS and UNTIL that media demands the actual empirical evidence and/or focuses on the motivations of & harms by these companies.

I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview. IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing. Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵

"I want to lead by saying that these men, regardless of their intentions or cynicism, are beyond loathsome. They are disgusting to me. I find them vile. And I find it equally vile how many people are falling for their garbage." --opening lines by Ed Zitron

Better Offline monologue: I run through the nonsensical, pro-AI lab scare campaign driven by a former researcher, how the media keeps falling for grifts, and how dangerous AI is already in the wrong hands - those of Anthropic and OpenAI. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/b... Linktr.ee/betteroffline

"it is essential for lawmakers, and the public, to understand that none of the reported incidents actually involved loss of control at any time, or arguably even “rogue agents,” or any kind of humanlike agency on the part of AI models."

The number of cases of cervical cancer reported in Scotland among women given the HPV vaccine at 12-13 years of age is now zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. Zero. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Yup, “MAHA is an opportunity for anti-vaccine influencers to make even more money selling books, page views, supplements, and ivermectin” It’s hard to believe that Dr Spencer fell for MAHA’s quackery & massive conflicts of interest! www.stopantivaxpropaganda.org/p/public-hea...
