If you're into public transit, particularly Bay Area public transit, and you're not following former SFMTA Director Jeff Tumlin, like State Sen. Scott Wiener a transit powerhouse who has done amazing work for SF, then you're not doing TransitSky right.

In the 70s-80s Curtis Green and H. Welton Flynn reinvented Muni while other cities abandoned transit. Art Agnos staked his political future on demolishing the Embarcadero Fwy. I can't wait to hear more about these inspiring figures, esp @peterhartlaub.bsky.social interviewing Mayor Agnos himself

I always say that if you’re into public transit, and you’re not following public transit consultant Dr. Jarrett Walker (PhD, Stanford, Humanities), you’re not doing transit right. This is a good thread about zero-emission bus mandates. I wish Massholes would have got the memo.

All over the transit industry, zero-emission bus mandates, like those of California, are colliding with Buy America requirements that deny US transit agencies access to a competitive bus market. The result is a wave of lousy buses that are impacting service. 1/ nyc.streetsblog.org/2026/07/27/b...

This year our firm is working on several transit plans that involve cutting service. So I know we’ll again get framed as service cut advocates. That’s not how it works. We work with the client’s financial situation. Advocate transit funding, so we don’t have to do this. We want more transit too

Car dependency was not a choice. It was and is the deprivation of choice. Facing the loss of her bus service, Mildred Cooper looked for others in Long Beach whose mobility was also at risk. She collected 7,231 signatures.

I go crazy every time a politician suggests free or low-priced transit. There is just no way to make up the revenue loss of free transit while running enough service in order to make transit a legit time-competitive alternative to driving.

So I made my own pomodoro sauce tonight using Mutti passatta, fresh basil, Lucini Extra Virgin olive oil, fresh garlic, salt, and pepper, and now get why Italians see jarred spaghetti sauce as an abomination.

Republicans lost 40 seats (including ones that hadn’t gone to Democrats in generations like VA-07 and VA-10) and control of the House in 2018 in part because of ACA repeal. They had the most most favorable Senate map in a century that year, yet gained only one Senate seat.

ya i mean 90% of Republicans in the House voted to repeal it and 95% of Republicans in the Senate did too (with "no" votes being cleared to vote no by leadership). It only survived because John McCain got pissed at Mitch McConnell over some arcane procedural shit bsky.app/profile/texa...

No matter how much President Trump tries to steal citizenship from people that the Constitution has said have earned it and reverse the grand American tradition of welcoming newcomers to our nation, the Supreme Court confirmed today that those born in America are American.

Hakeem Jeffries is the first Black American ever to lead a major party in the U.S. House (and for the largest political party in the world that seeks greater representation of women and minorities). Read the room, Ben.

Now is not quite the time to be punching our own side, but I have some concerns that this guy is in line to be Speaker in a few months with this kind of statement that completely misses the point and the concern.

It’s funny how when a Black politician finally gains the senority to obtain the speakership, and Black and Hispanic politicians generally have greatly increased their seniority and institutional power, now is the time to throw that all away. That makes perfect sense for white people.

Godspeed You! Woke Moralists@dashwallkick.bsky.social · last mo.

tapping again at the sign that says "democratic seniority is the core of the rot in the party", the fact that everyone inside of the most powerful worker-friendly political party in the country is just expected to politely wait their turn while the country becomes fascist is killing us all

No Father’s Day is complete without this video. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Redmond tore his hamstring in the 400 metres semi-final but continued the race limping and, with assistance from his father, managed to complete a full lap of the track as the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
