Insane Bluesky Nitpick: Golden Girls wasn’t on Nick at Nite. I didn’t watch it until more recently because of that; Hallmark Channel has a block with Golden Girls and Frasier (another show I love that I came late to) back to back, which is a great way to lose 4 hours

I remember being a kid and after years of watching Rugrats, thinking “wow I bet I’ve seen all the episodes of Rugrats”. I was 9 so I wasn’t capable of looking online to see if I had. Now all you have to do is hit a button and all the episodes of Rugrats will play sequentially with no work or effort.

to take an actual crack at this: requiring effort to access entertainment (set schedules, physical media, rare reruns, limited home access), often meant you proved yourself a fan by dint of the consumption itself, and I think that’s been replaced by toxic fandom to prove your bona fides.

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.
