Another issue with this too is that the publishers are pushing that these are morality plays in their marketing. That whole “shounen manga is friendship, effort, victory” thing comes from Shueisha. They’re asking us to treat the contents of Shounen Jump that way.

You also aren't writing those for 12 year old kids and throwing cool powers on it.🙄

I feel like the most useful setting material is described from the ground up rather than the top down. I don’t mean like no cultural or regional summaries, moreso that it seems more useful to start with the stuff you actually use in a session than the stuff that imposes limits on what you can make.
Pro tip don’t intentionally mispronounce Arkansas as a joke too often or you may slip up in mixed company

Most people don’t know that having to hold reset while you turn the power off in FF1 comes from a little known rule in the AD&D 1e DMG.
