Strategic engagement lead at www.genomicsengland.co.uk, on a secondment from www.ons.gov.uk. Ex-NHS England digital team. Data, health, social care, autism, LD, caring, travel, gigs, coffee. A Scot who 💙s living in SE London.
A little montage of the audio and visual feast courtesy of Kraftwerk at the @royalalberthall.bsky.social last night. A gig highlight!
Sharing for reach, as the SRC is such a worthwhile org (and has been so lovely supporting my Dad who’s been unwell in hospital🫶)

Learning disabled people die young. Not because they’re more ill, but because the NHS doesn’t make reasonable adjustments to see them near to their appt time. Even with her record flagged, my daughter had a meltdown after we waited over an hour. And the GP said “well I can’t examine her like this”.
Tonight @spaintheband.bsky.social we’re just stunning. The most beautiful guitars. At the @mothclub.bsky.social in Hackney
I feel privileged to have started working at @genomicsengland.bsky.social 3 weeks ago, and to have the opportunity to get involved in this type of groundbreaking and lifesaving work for and with patients, communities and the NHS. Freddie’s story is incredible!
4 weeks after being born, Freddie was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer. He is one of numerous babies born with rare conditions who are receiving earlier diagnoses and treatment as a result of the Generation Study. Read the full story: ow.ly/YJ7850XcTNk
Tonight in Crystal Palace Park @lankumdublin.bsky.social and @mogwai.scot you were tremendous (as always)🧠🍬
It has been the honor of my life to serve as Commissioner of BLS alongside the many dedicated civil servants tasked with measuring a vast and dynamic economy. It is vital and important work and I thank them for their service to this nation.
My daughter (who happens to have severe learning disabilities) has made all these bracelets and keyrings herself (with support) at college. I’m beyond proud!
I saw the play Kenrex at @swkplay.bsky.social tonight and what a show! Astounding performance by Jack Holden - who played at least a dozen characters simultaneously, and music by John Patrick Elliott. I’ve not seen anything like it b4.
When a London bus lets you on at the traffic lights it’s like you’ve won the lottery!!
@wallastow.bsky.social love the bit in speech marks 😅
this is specifically the group of MPs whose seats are not worth defending at the next election and who are not essential to the majority. the only thing the leadership should be saying to them is "love you lots but don't let the practicing certificate expire" www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Really enjoyed the UK Statistics Assembly yesterday. It was a lot of hard work from many including at the RSS, but a team effort! Prof David Hand’s findings report to follow…
Fantastic to have a packed audience, online and in-person for the inaugural UK Statistics Assembly today, which we’re delivering in partnership with the UK Statistics Authority to discuss the challenges and opportunities for our statistical system uksa.statisticsauthority.gov.uk/uk-statistic...
@nidgebrook.bsky.social I think you’d like this turtle neck / polo neck post by @dieworkwear.bsky.social
I'll tell you about turtlenecks. 🧵
I saw the play Kyoto at the Soho Place Theatre yesterday. It was fantastic. Themes included seeking agreement in the face of intransigent disagreement, and the language of negotiation. I cried. And I also spoke to Angela Merkel in my rubbish German!
I got locked into a disabled toilet in Sainsburys (I had to pull the red cord … fyi nothing happens when you pull that cord). Once free, I then climbed into the passenger seat of a stranger’s car. Their dog was intrigued. The bloke perplexed. How’s everyone else’s day going??🫣
Applying for drama schools… most are done outwith UCAS… and most charge a fee just to submit an application. So it’s £100s to apply to around half a dozen schools… of which you’ll be lucky to even get an audition. And most are not funded via student loans. 😒
Relax by FGTH is playing on @6music.bsky.social. I remember the BBC banning it in the 80s. And me getting a right shouting at for playing it on hospital radio - broadcasting it to what was then a geriatric and orthopaedic hospital in south Glasgow 😏🤗
