I had a random unlikely idea a while back A Star Trek game where each chapter is a different point in the career - going from lowly ensign to admiral With each rank the mechanics change - member of the away team to leading it (squad controls), commanding a starship (ship) to commanding a fleet (rts)
Star Trek: The Next Generation started 39 years ago today. The future began again at this (Encounter at Far)point.
Here I am talking about my last book of dicks and why it matters that we fight for adult content. Coincidentally, my new book of dicks (the Star Wars one) is on Kickstarter for like 30 more hours at dickstarter.net

"Sir, I have located the source of V'ger's radio signal: directly ahead."
Phase II set piece with its giant circuit board I do wonder if it was intended to be part of the Phase II version of V'Ger

MRE Strawberry Shortcake - tastes exactly the same as MRE Meatloaf.
Pandorum was released 17 years ago today. "Two crew members of a spaceship wake up from hypersleep to discover that all their colleagues are missing." This sci-fi horror film - starring Dennis Quaid, Antje Traue, Ben Foster, and Norman Reedus - was a pleasant surprise for me.

The idea that Star Trek needs more "dull" VFX shots might sound ridiculous, but I think it's absolutely true. If every shot is special, none are.
These are beautiful. They are exactly the kind of thing I dreamed of for trek when I was a kid, and I still think used judiciously (& well lit!) they can make for incredible scenes. But 1) the story needs to support & highlight them (or rather the other way round) and 2) I need more “dull” shots.
I swear to God I didn't know the name of the new Strange new worlds episode when I made my art for my rpg campaign.
I was thinking more of the general shape to adapt over the contents :) Also I would be tempted to adapt unused TNG concepts such as these
"Altered perspectives on reality in relation to heavy use of the Holodeck."
A study on the long term effects of high warp: analysis of personality drift of Admirals and other senior ranks
Found myself thinking of the kinetic motion out of the TOS Enterprises' warp pod caps. Trek later restored the glowy parts to future designs, but I really miss the spinning motion visible within them. Was kinda neat to see scifi space having starships with actuating parts.
A new Enterprise arrives on the scene! I love this take on her. Some other fun TOS designs in the second post too.
lol, was recently wondering if anyone had caught that! I've been occasionally chipping away at it the last couple years, sort of working out my own "Adjusted TOS" style. Trying hard to stay true to the spirit of the original while adding just a touch more visible structure. (1/2)

Before Alien, The Last Starfighter, Total Recall, Aliens, Titan AE and many more, Ron Cobb was a talented cartoonist, already on target more than 50 years ago.
Ron Cobb was born 89 years ago and died on his birthday, 6 years ago today. Not a day goes by without me thinking about his work.
Does anyone know who provided the ENT: "In a Mirror Darkly" chair and helm? Also what happened to them afterwards?
