Witnesses say Henryka seized a rifle — and, by some accounts, a bottle of petrol — marched to a German tank at the rail crossing and screamed at the crew. She was shot and died on the spot, unable to live without him. They were buried side by side in Chotomów cemetery;

Day 3 of the #WarsawUprising: 21-year-old messenger Henryka Narostek lost her life the same day her 24-year-old fiancé, Antoni Grabowski, was killed. That morning Antoni’s platoon had dismantled rails between Legionowo and Chotomów to derail German trains, blocking a key route.

Day 2 of the #WarsawUprising and 23 year old medic, Maria Kwiecinska, codename, "Maja" was killed alongside her husband Lieutenant Zbigniew Kwieciński, codename "Pretwicz". They were part of a group of insurgents who launched an attack on a Dominican Monastery in the southern part of Warsaw.

Dorota and Franciszek died from the injuries they sustained that day
