So well written. No members of our household are on AISH/ADAP. But when Smith's UCPers announced the RICHEST prov in Canada was going to cut those with the least, $200 when the feds increased their cheque by $200 - that was a kick in the pants. This prov gov is cruel to humans - & generous to corps.

"I have cerebral palsy. I am not on AISH. I am not on ADAP. But I have sat across kitchen tables from people who are, watched what this summer has done to their faces, and I have never in all my years writing this column felt as let down by this province as I do right now." #Alberta #abpoli

4/8 The betrayal goes deeper for couples. Starting this August, households where two adults receive disability assistance will see their benefits clawed back to just 88% of the maximum individual rate. It is a targeted penalty on shared lives and mutual support.

The bike parking was overflowing at Heritage Festival today - so many people chose cycling as their mode of transportation since it was convenient and had dedicated parking! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚴 Edmonton is a cycling city 🙌

Utility regulation is a complex area of the law. The ABCA has reminded the regulator, the Utilities Commission, that it writes not only for the regulated utilities but also for those who consume the services of those utilities. Fortis v AUC, 2026 ABCA 258 (CanLII), canlii.ca/t/kmcld

A dangerous wind shift (visible on radar imagery) has just occurred in #Spokane, WA, where major wildfire disaster is currently unfolding. Three separate major fires (circled) near or within city limits have already caused major structure loss & chaotic, expanding evacs. #WAwx

Time for us all to follow this site. That's a lot of fire related highway closures. But sure, more coal mines, more carbon infrastructure. #cndpoli

How much do Canadians hate Trump? An artist from British Columbia created a portrait of him titled “Don of Dung” using horse shit. This may be the most honest portrait of Trump ever painted - the artist literally worked with the subject matter. 💩🇨🇦😎💙👏🤣

The Minister is lying to you about hunting black bears as a solution for caribou recovery 🐻🚫 The new regulations permitting dogs to hunt black bears are not really about caribou. That's not what real conservation looks like. This is about killing black bears with dogs, dressed up as conservation.

I am impressed by all of these many, many folks, especially movie critics, who claim to be familiar with the original version of the Odyssey. Who knew that the Greek classics were such an important part of middle America's education. #cdnpoli

Oh yes; & especially when you criticize the state of Israel; why are you not spending your time criticizing Russia, China etc. It's designed to shut you up. But actually we're each entitled to concentrate on what we believe to be the most egregious, or even the issue we believe to be most tractable.

99% of the time, when someone accuses you of selective outrage, it’s a way of politically demobilizing you and shutting you up “Why are you angry about data centers instead of fast fashion” isn’t about making you care about fast fashion. It’s about shutting you up about data centers And visa versa

Premier Smith is not going to like today's SCC decision affirming that "the legality of every aspect of an administrative decision, and every exercise of public power, is subject to the supervision of the courts" Be you ever so high Premier, the law is above you. Democracy Watch 2026 SCC 28 #abpoli

Same people. But explaining the commonality is that they both feature the worst aspects of populism: simple solutions to complex problems, distrust of expertise, distrust of liberal institutions, distrust of legacy media, spreading false information/conspiracy theories...
