Making Edmonton a friendlier place to walk, roll and cycle #yegwalk #yegbike https://linktr.ee/pathsforpeople

The bike parking was overflowing at Heritage Festival today - so many people chose cycling as their mode of transportation since it was convenient and had dedicated parking! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚴 Edmonton is a cycling city 🙌

I want to shout out the City of Edmonton's DATS (Dedicated Accessible Transit Service) service. It's making a major positive difference to someone in my life. Just a total game changer. Thanks for the good governance Edmonton city council!

A bicycle-friendly Canada needs a recognized, supported workforce of skilled bike techs! 👩🏻‍🔧🚲🇨🇦 We’ve teamed up to launch the Canadian Bicycle Industry Skills Coalition—a new national sector council advancing professional recognition, training & standards. 🧵

UPDATE: Federal active transportation funds are finally flowing in Canada! 🎉 After a year of delays, critical federal funding for safe bike and pedestrian infrastructure is moving forward again. Here’s the story of how advocates made it happen 🧵👇

We need your 🫵 help speaking up for safe streets and municipal autonomy! 1. Add your voice to our postcard campaign 🌅 2. Send the Minister and your local representatives an email using the provided template ✉️ This simple action helps keep our communities safe 💪 #yegbike

This week the Funicular will be closed, along with the High Level Bridge paths for active modes - we are deeply concerned & are asking Epcor and @thecityofedmonton.bsky.social to detour cars instead, so that active modes, transit and EMS can use the open lanes on the High Level Bridge. Join us! 📢 ✉️📞

🚨 Major closure coming to High Level Bridge for active transportation users July 20-22! 🚨 We’ve asked Epcor and @thecityofedmonton.bsky.social to reconsider this plan, detouring vehicles instead of pedestrians and cyclists. Add your voice by sending a quick email to Epcor & your councillor ASAP!

So great to be able to just hop on a bike with a novice rider, buzz downtown on mostly protected mobility routes, hit Taste of Edmonton and the Museum, and come back home with much less worry about inattentive drivers, potholes, and parking. Shoutout to ToE for secure bike parking. YEG yegbike

Noticed some apparent new bike counters recently installed on 100 St north of 76 Ave, as well as 106 St south of 61 Ave! #yegbike

For Heslinga, it’s all about distracting from other issues. “Bike lanes come up, and it’s a really easy way to make everyone start talking about something else” The UCP should be focused on healthcare, education, data breaches, etc. - not overreaching into local municipal matters.

Great article from Momentum on the UCP's latest anti-bike lane crusade. #yegbike #yycbike momentummag.com/alberta-bike...
