Elon Musk’s demolition of USAID, and the resulting suffering and death, “is going to be a defining part of his legacy, and I do wonder if that’s why he’s scrambling so hard to rewrite that history now," @jeremykonyndyk.bsky.social told me: www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

What will define Elon Musk’s legacy? Doge cuts to USAID Ebola programs

Experts say cuts have hindered the response to DRC’s Ebola outbreak and resulted in ‘significant numbers’ of deaths

🇬🇧 Defence Secretary Dan Jarvis: We now have a limited window of opportunity. Ukraine’s forces are fighting with incredible determination and momentum. They are counting on us to help keep them going. We cannot and will not let them down. Thank you, and Slava Ukraini!

🇬🇧 Defence Secretary Dan Jarvis: United Kingdom will provide 150,000 drones, more than 350 air defence missiles and radars, all of which will be delivered by the end of the year as part of £752 million package, funded by a sale of seized Russian assets through ERA loan program.

Russians try to shoot down an incoming Ukrainian drone near Moscow oil refinery, first with small arms fire and then with a MANPADS. Unclear if successful, and another drone is seen incoming shortly after. The locals appear to be enjoying the show.

JD Vance getting the blame for a treaty Trump signed to end a war Trump started is so funny. In a "worst person you know hit in crotch on live TV after declaring himself 'iron junk' and daring anyone to try it" kind of way.

More trouble for Tommy Robinson. He’s been working with Russia propagandists to incite violence in the UK well before fuelling pogroms in Belfast last week, from his well heeled perched in Moscow with agents like Malofeev BBC report t.co/xTQuLCVNDa

Everyone on X and elsewhere who called for a violent response should be charged with incitement. Everyone involved in the pogrom should be locked up with exemplary sentences. Govt should make it clear that will be the response in future anywhere else. Enough.

The Far Right riot in Belfast last night was nothing less than “a race-based pogrom”, Belfast MP and leader of the SDLP Claire Hanna said. The mob hunted down non-whites and set fire to their homes. Carl Whyte, a local councillor, called it “a hard Far Right element”.

On one street, hundreds of masked men carrying bottles and bricks set bins on fire and shouted "foreigners out", our reporter says.

Scott Pelley is leaving, but not before he drops a big stack of receipts on what happened at 60 minutes. It's worse than you could have imagined, and bless this man for fighting as hard as he could and then tearing down the blackout curtains so we could see what's happening inside.

🧵 I decided to take a look at how the chemical weapon denialists were responding to the latest news out of Syria about chemical weapons, and this reply from Aaron Mate says a lot about the credibility of the denialists positions.

Aaron Mate X post - "This article is misleading. Not surprising coming from an outlet that has pretended that the OPCW's Douma cover-up scandal and the dissenting inspectors who challenged it don't exist.

Speaking of which, this discovery -- more than one year after Assad's ouster -- happens to come right after it emerged that dissenting inspector Dr. Brendan Whelan won his case against the OPCW. In the process, the OPCW admitted to suppressing a key finding that undermined its allegation that Syria used chemical weapons in Douma. Perhaps the timing is coincidental.

In any event, Reuters says here that "hexamine, a stabilization agent known to have been used by Assad's forces in sarin production" was found.

The OPCW doesn't even say that. But even if they did, the discovery doesn't necessarily mean it was for sarin production. Hexamine would be expected in a war zone: it's the basic ingredient for the explosive RDX.

No matter how many "discoveries" follow, nothing will change the fundamental fact that the OPCW has refused to address the extensively documented suppression of the Douma investigation."

Erich Vad lag in allen wesentlichen Einschätzungen zur Ukraine völlig falsch, und Roderich Kiesewetter legt hier absolut richtig den Finger in die Wunde. Und zwar so sehr, dass Vad durchdreht.
