Begged my dad to take me to see Under Siege 2: Dark Territory in theaters, just before I started 6th grade. So, I would have been 9. But, my dad did accidentially rent both The Thing and The Fly thinking they were the 1950s originals and just let us watch them. Those could have been first.

Do you remember what *your* first R-rated movie was? I finally asked my mom (I couldn't remember), and she told me it was The Lost Boys when I was roughly the same age as my daughter (about 9). The movie traumatized her more than it did me, apparently

In 1972, Schlitz put out a booklet about how beer is made. It was to give to accounts in hops of increasing awareness and education about beer and brewing. It has some good photos of the old brewery and it's workers, as well as just good information. archive.org/details/schl...

They aren't exactly stand-ins for "delinquents" but it's sort of close. For Miike - it seems to boil down to "Are you going to create/fly or linger/destroy?" - almost as if Miike is warning the birds who might watch his films that wasting your life being a dirtbag isn't worth it and ends in tragedy.

I'm going to post some thoughts about movies I watch on here, I guess. It's easy and will help me offshore a lot of Thoughts about Stuff.
