Critics argue that channelling funds towards Olympic-linked projects is not the best way to prioritise wider transit improvements. “More often than not, when you create an artificial deadline, the priorities go to where the tourist dollars are, not to the people who are transit-dependent."

Los Angeles bold vision for a “car-free” Olympics has settled into a more achievable “transit-first” Slow planning and a lack of money mean the city is likely to fall short of the clean transport legacy advocates once envisaged

I know we have other stuff going on right now but here’s the draft ordinance to expedite all LA28-related projects cityclerk.lacity.org/onlinedocs/2... It was interesting to hear Paul Krekorian at the last ad hoc meeting talking about how many projects were seeking exemptions “for the Olympics”

Of course LA's leadership is more interested in spending billions on the LAPD and on hosting the World Cup and the '28 Olympics because of all those sweet kickbacks from real estate developers. It's even more incentive for downplaying disasters while gentrifying communities at gunpoint.

"Paul Krekorian, head of Los Angeles’ Office of Major Events, was driving to SoFi Stadium for the U.S. soccer team’s opening match against Paraguay when he found himself stuck in a traffic jam." What does it say about LA when our own officials aren't taking transit to these games?

What SoFi Stadium traffic is teaching LA politicians about the Olympics

Los Angeles is about to host its fourth match of the tournament, the most of any city thus far. Olympic organizers are taking notes.
