(strong) Opinion: All of y'all should make it a priority to watch "The President's Analyst". We're almost 60 years from the release, and it's prescient and funny, and especially connected with the AI bubble. Watch it. And don't forget, this was released in 1967.

"House Republicans will continue to hold Hunter Biden’s feet to the fire until we have his testimony...no one – not even the president’s son – is above the law.” - Tom Emmer, 1.17.24 "Don Jr is a private citizen and businessman so this unwarranted attack will go nowhere," Tom Emmer, 9.23.26

Everything the pro-Trump billionaire Ellison family will now own: Paramount+ CBS CNN Showtime HBO Warner Bros TNT TBS MTV DC Studios Nickelodeon Comedy Central And more... With this comes the power to decide which stories get told, but more importantly, which stories DON'T get told. Shameful.

I want to talk a little bit about a tangent to recent discourse here. The discourse is generally of the form of "I could never vote for anyone unsupporting of [a particular issue], no matter what else they support. I'm not going to cite examples. They're _everywhere_ now in the runup to the midterms

"That's what America is all about. It's to go down to Disney World in Florida. Take your families and go shopping, after you've done your duty in the way we've structured it." GWB after 9/11. Disgusting.

This is quietly big news for @esa. General chat around #EPSC2026 is a strong desire to reduce dependence on perfidious NASA, driving Europe to new capabilities and partners (see expanding partnership with JAXA for BepiColombo and beyond)

A lot of the coffee-discussion here at #EPSC2026 has been about European-led future exploration of the outer solar system, for Saturn and beyond. This would be a game-changer.

When my father was in his last 6 months, he suffered from a host of ailments, including dementia caused by cerebral atrophy. He would often conflate events widely separated in time, or place himself at events which he had only seen in the news or on TV. He was insistent his false memories were real.

My partner and I watched the 1983 film "The Pirates of Penzance" this evening (for the uncountable time). Starring Kevin Kline, Linda Ronstandt, Angela Lansbury, et al. And also the amazing Tony Azito, lost to HIV/AIDS in 1995. Highly recommended, whether you're an "effeminate theatre kid" or not.

It's not until he says the magic words, that he fears losing control, that it fully clicks. It's not that he believes philanthropy is bad, it's that the risk of someone receiving his money who he doesn't approve of is a bigger problem than the risk that his money helps no one. That speaks volumes.
