It’s hardly a hot take, but this genuinely is the greatest run of albums within black metal, and every time I think otherwise I am humbled when I return to it and realize the truth once more

A proper hot take is based in more than just personal taste and can be discussed and defended in itself imo
The main issue I have with post-metal is that a lot of it is just drawing from existing post-rock and post-hardcore forms and adding “heaviness” rather than actually deconstructing the genre and moving into something new imo
