There's a lot of interesting character work in ETERNALS (barring the terrible stunt casting of Harry Styles) and it's a shame there are no plans to see them again. If you don't think Eternals 2 sells, team a bunch of them up with the Guardians for something.

Great review about Brand New Day. Does contain spoilers, but I like this guy's interpretation of the Tom Holland movies.
New video out now. About Spider-Man: Brand New Day, dual identities, and small potatoes: youtu.be/jWi4PQfZZC4
Just saw a thing where a director talked about taking out sex/nudity because audiences don’t want to see it. Here’s an idea: fuck the audience. I’m the chef & they’ll eat what I serve them and like it. *The audience* knows what they want? Why don’t you let a toddler drive a car next?
The good thing about finishing this video is now I can watch all the other opinions about Spider-Man: Brand New Day without them getting muddled in with my own.

Brand New Day UNDERSTANDS Spider-Man

I can promise that I loved those films then and now, flaws and all. They have some of my favourite on-screen Spider-Man scenes in them.
modern nostalgia for andrew garfield spider man rocks because i was a full grown adult when those came out and trust me they did not have any shooters at the time. the prevailing attitude was “wait why did they make this”
Sometimes, if you're a backer on Patreon, your name in the credits will look really cool. (Amazing BTS photography by @adcombe.bsky.social)
There's not enough Bill Metzger footage in the Brand New Day trailers for this video I'm making. I'm tempted to swap in some Severence footage and hope no-one notices.
Searching for Brand New Day footage led me inadvertently to Mauler's take on the new Spider-Man film, and that is a man who does not understand how stories are supposed to work...
Finally finished my Brand New Day script. Made my husband (and me) tear up a bit as I read it out loud. Almost 3000 words. So much for short and timely. But soon...
Inside you are two DeWolffs. One is going to die to give you motivation. The other is going to betray you to the Kingpin.
Reverse Jaws: Peaceful Shark town terrorised by a human who keeps swimming down and eating them.
let's pretend: Universal announces a screenwriting contest for Jaws 5. What's your pitch?
This has led down an interesting road. We let my son watch Taskmaster (the uncensored version) so he's heard all of the swears. So why do I feel different about him reading them? Anyway "arse" is okay.
Parents! What's the WORST swearword you'd be comfortable with your 8-12 year old reading in a story? Where do we stand on "arse"? (please be as prissy as you like, I'm trying to balance "word I want to use" with "can I be arsed with the complaints"?)
Everyone hates it when their opponent just leaves the game before it's over, so I've been trying to find ways to soften the blow a little bit. #fightinggame #gamemaker #indiedev
Rod Liddle is dead. Let us not be mean, but instead remember him by the words he wrote. Things like "the one thing stopping me from being a teacher was that I could not remotely conceive of not trying to shag the kids"
Maybe he should've lived his life such that he wasn't a vile person who made the world worse. Being dead doesn't make you magically morally perfect. He was an asshole.
To a general non-comic-reading audience, I think Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops and Storm are all famous enough that they could feature in a SNL skit and the audience would know what their deal is. Maybe Mystique too. I'm assuming we're not counting Deadpool.

My video script about Brand New Day is, so far, a thousand words on all the other Tom Holland films and how good they are.
Another Brand New Day thought, with no spoilers: Spider-Man was doing a Columbo impression in that scene, right?
A thought about Brand New Day (mild SPOILER): The scene outside the hospital feels like it answers a question that the film never really asks. I would bet that there was some deleted thread within the film in which Peter was told that, deep inside the minds of NY folks, they fear and distrust him.
Suspension of disbelief is something that you bring to a film, not something that a film needs to provide.
if I ever taught film criticism lesson one would be “you being smarter than the movie is not interesting to anyone”

Rewatched SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME -- so my son is all caught up for Brand New Day tomorrow --and boy is it a lot of fun. Sure it suffers from feeling very interior due to covid, but it's also a deeply personal Peter story while also being an epilogue of sorts to two other series of Spidey.
This movie ruled. It is fun and heartfelt as hell without pulling its punches. As a feat of replicating the feeling of reading a Spider-Man storyline, it is unsurpassed. Nothing else even comes close to capturing the magic of a wild shared universe superhero comic while also telling a damn STORY
