i think to balance out the overuse of "roguelike" we should bring back "doom clone" and start applying it to any game that includes both a gun(s) and collectible keys, e.g. mina the hollower

did you know the Akai S612 sampler supports Commodore Datasette tape drives? except that they removed the actual connector at the last minute after deciding that they didn't like it were any S612s with the tape port ever actually sold? none of the ones i can find photos of online have it

Big personal news: I have installed a skin of Homer Simpson as a Matrix character on Winamp. The best part is it comes with what are unquestionably Homer's finest quotes in the "skin information" box.

A Winamp player skin showing Homer Simpson dressed as Neo from The Matrix, jumping backwards and avoiding bullets, in front of a Matrix-esque green and black background with falling characters.Current skin information:

Homer:Hello My Name Is Mister Burns
I Beleive You Have A Letter For Me
Operator:OK Mr. Burns What's You're First Name?
Homer:I Don't KnowCurrent skin information:

Elmo:This Is The Song. La La La La. Elmo's Song
Homer:Why You Little...(Punches Elmo Repeatedly)I Am Evil Homer

i wish discord would lean into being a retirement home for people who used to post on internet forums and stop putting pop ups on my screen asking me to buy gamer gems for streamer style squads or whatever the hell

one of a few things i picked up from Yahoo Japan this week: an undumped Japanese "revision B" of Namco's Final Lap 2 (differences currently unknown) as a bonus it also fills in the missing graphics ROMs from the existing Japanese set. example before and after

a screenshot of the attract mode from Final Lap 2. there's a bunch of garbage across the screen where text is supposed to bethe same scene but the text (in Japanese) is now rendered correctly
