Queer, gardener, birdwatcher, goof, third world socialism #BlackskyOutdoors

Today while facilitating a bird walk, I was describing how sometimes songbirds create a bunch of noise to alert each other about the presence of a predator like an owl and then used that exact method to find an owl. They thought I was a wizard fr

This story deserves far more attention. In 2024, Taylor Frazier McCollum and her daughter were evicted from their home. Two years later, she helped stop a $5 billion data center in her community. A vital testament to the power of organizing, and how resistance so often comes from below, not above.

An unexpected activist emerged to help block a $5 billion data center in Maryland

Thousands across the U.S. have gotten involved to oppose data centers. One is a Maryland woman who'd been evicted after a pay cut and became a leader of a community effort that blocked a vast project.

I said this in a comment and will lift this up here. People are also conflating his AFFECT with his politics. To some people, he FEELS like what they imagine a socialist would be. His style reads to some that way. Someone should write something about that.

Why fight for a country abroad that brutalises and terrorises you at home? The Black Panthers weren't built on hate. They were built on refusing to keep paying (with Black lives, labour, and blood) for a freedom that never came. All Power To The People. All Power to Black People Everywhere!

"We don't hate nobody because of their colour. We hate oppression." Bobby Seale, KPIX, April 1968. Seale co-founded the Black Panther Party with Huey P. Newton in Oakland in October 1966. Here he lays out the history: about 186,000 Black men fought for the Union in the Civil War.

Dems taking power in the states should seriously consider this because it breaks Republican power but also because people will like it! Buying a car sucks. Getting fleeced sucks. You want affordability? Joyfully pick a fight with every scam industry and be seen doing it

Dealerships are a massive republican funding base and if you crush them the only people that will complain are guys that own dealerships

Sightly off topic but i distinctly remember black americans saying that black caribbeans are not apart of reparations discussion 👇🏽BITCH ASS MFS READ THE SHIT AGAIN. USA TRANSATLANTIC SLAVERY WAS A INTERNATIONAL AFFAIR. Reparations for ALLLLLLLLL BLACK PEOPLE!

This is a plea to Massachusetts residents, particularly Cambridge residents and Harvard grads. I've spend the last 3 years looking at old maps of western Jamaica while researching the history of absentee sugar planters who lived in Massachusetts while enslaving thousands of people in Jamaica.

This is the most basic Black/Brown family dynamic there is. You can have cousins who aren't your cousins but are children of your parent's friends, aunts and uncles who are your actually your older cousins, siblings who are your cousins cuz y'all were raised together. It's a very flexible system.

Nothing says "we got nothing, absolutely nothing" more than the anti-Mamdani side trying to make a scandal out of him referring to his mom's cousin as an "aunt"
