BREAKING: WASHINGTON (AP) - Abdul El-Sayed wins Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in Michigan.
Don't look now, but in the MI Senate primary race, which the AP has not yet called, Abdul El-Sayed is up less than a point. He leads Stevens 48.48% to 47.51%, with >95% of the vote total in (NYT). Wayne Cty, the most populous in the state, still has 6% outstanding. Most others are nearly complete.
With 90% of the vote tallied in the MI Senate primary, NBC News has called the race for Abdul El-Sayed, who currently leads Haley Stevens 48.9% to 47.1%.
Abdul El-Sayed is emotional delivering what was meant to be his victory speech. He's had catches in his delivery and wiped his eye at least once. With 77% of the vote tallied, he leads Stevens 49% to 46%.
People were hoping for a quick decision tonight. That hasn't happened. I know from 2024 that some counties won't report until the wee hours of the morning. But the New York Times is projecting that the ~3% spread we see between El-Sayed and Stevens is likely to stay in that range.

At the moment, Abdul El-Sayed is up by nearly 25 points over Haley Stevens.

I found a no-nonsense Toledo station tracking the Michigan primary results. This is great, as it's devoid of the hype that'd be found on, say, MS NOW or other such outlet. It'll play in the background. The evening is going to be very chill.

The more important part has always been the tax immunity deal. That must be struck in its entirety. The $1.776B bonanza was always a cover for and distraction from the lifetime tax exemption, which is enormously corrosive. The executive branch cannot be allowed to collude with itself.

But I am taken aback at your portrayal of these most recent GE polls. You know as well as the rest of us that 2 of the last 3 polls show a statistical tie among all candidates, as the margins don't exceed MoE.
The disentangling of this conflation, which happens with remarkable frequency, is direly needed if the Democratic party is to preserve anything resembling its current coalition. Stevens's equivocation is newsworthy because she's a candidate for a major office. But this legerdemain is not new.

It’s fun watching voices who attacked anyone who even expressed difficulty voting because they didn’t want to support genocide turn around and encourage people not to vote because they might lose a primary. Hopefully this vote blue no matter who nonsense has been exposed at this point.

I swear, people have lost their minds. The amount of PAC money in this single race is absolutely corrupting the information space. This undermines democracy. I find it incredible that the Detroit News published such an opinion piece. Then again, the News already endorsed Stevens.
