The party deciding and electability are my two favorite riddled-with-endogeneity concepts in political science
The party decides but the voters don't listen

10:1 is bonkers. Also draws into question the power of elite cues when that crop of elites should have been able to drag her over the line
Abdul El-Sayed’s win represents a big blow to the politics of bygone days. Because if one campaign can show that *that* much money and *that* much old guard support doesn’t guarantee victory, it cracks open what can be imagined. It widens the aperture of what’s possible.
Our dog got old and she’s more or less fine sans an absurd geriatric cough but the worst part of her grandma stage is that she hates snuggling now (she used to literally spoon to fall asleep) and we’re basically just subsidizing a furry indifferent brick and it’s low key depressing
Every MAGA chud who bloviates about iLleGaL iMmiGrATioN should be immediately shipped off to perform the farm work in question. As American society becomes less and less attached to the labors of its own farmlands, this gutter racism balloons bc the spigots of hate understand nothing of the toil
Don't miss this vile story: MAGA is raging at DHS chief Markwayne Mullin for admitting migrant farmworkers can beneft our economy. This means his devotion to ethnic cleansing is in doubt. He must be excommunicated! I wrote about the collapse of MAGA mythology here: newrepublic.com/article/2138...
*Political science breathes sigh of relief in law school*
President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v
can’t get enough of the toks alleging trump shit his pants at Lindsay‘a funeral as far as cringe content goes it’s excellent
It’s funny bc even the apathetic largely unaware public believes this (we wrote a book on that!) and the only ones still hawkin this schlock are literally just the justices
They're not a Trump court, they're a Republican court, and the fact those two things align 80-90% of the time instead of literally 100% doesn't mean they're therefore admirably independent. To even describe them as ideologically conservative is too generous. They are partisan politicians.
The USA has the resources to be the envy of the world but we just shit in our bed and track dirt in the house.
im not a big movie critic but i do think its kind of wild how many people come away from nolan's work with such sharply divergent vibes
New GENDER GAP: In 2020, Republican men were more than two times as likely than Dem men to see callout culture as "unfair punishment" (68% vs 27%). By 2025, they'd converged almost exactly (43% vs 45%). I wrote about it for Gender Gap. substack.com/home/post/p-...
The Atlantic pioneered the “Heres this transparently gross thing. Now let me tell you how yes it’s very gross but there’s this One Thing on which it’s not entirely gross and thus you must tolerate if not accept it” coverage and its so morally bankrupt.
Absolutely fucking not
A prison industrial complex but it’s just entirely filled with Trump administration goons
The White House corruptly and illegally cancelled grants for states that voted against Trump. I know this sort of thought exercise is tiring, but imagine if a Democratic president cancelled grants only for states that voted against them. There’d be wall-to-wall coverage and impeachment hearings!
Gandalf and his underage pot smoking buddies show up in Rivendell to tell the elf president they acquired what's essentially a nuclear weapon by accident. It's more or less history's first Harold and Kumar style plotline.
They say that admitting you are obsessed with Jimothy, the raccoon with Shortened Spine Syndrome, is the 1st step to recovery...
There are many useful idiots in politics but Susan Collins is on that Mount Rushmore
Susan Collins voted for $70 billion in ICE funding just before an ICE agent gunned down a young immigrant father in Maine. Collins also voted against an amendment requiring bodycams. These votes will now be hung around her neck, Dems in the state tell me. New piece: newrepublic.com/article/2133...
Republicans hate children. Print the shirts.
"We estimate that SNAP participation nationwide fell by more than 4.5 million people (11 percent) between the law’s July 2025 enactment and April 2026....It’s very likely that nationwide, the number of children receiving SNAP has dropped by more than 1.5 million since July 2025."
Stencil’s ICE adventures were an interesting follow but he and the reply guy brigades are back to cluttering up time line peace. Back to mute.
The United has spent multiple trillions of dollars fucking around in the Middle East over the last 20+ years while its own citizens whither away. We are a war torn country but not in the way people generally think.

A variation of this debate about economic epistemology happens on social media pretty cyclically and I’m not theres ever really that much gained or lost every time it happens other than people get really weird
