This is the #climatecrisis, primarily caused by fossil fuels like oil from Alberta oil sands and fracked gas (LNG) from BC. The good news is that wind and solar and batteries are suddenly far cheaper than fossil fuels... are we smart enough to do the obvious thing? #bcpoli #bcwildfire

"Now that it is open, visitors should see Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present. Indeed, many visitors may learn about the history and culture of Palestinian Canadians for the first time" Well that gives me something to do when I go to Winnipeg this fall #cdnpoli #mbpoli

I worked at Disney a while ago. Do you know why theme parks are so safe? Because OOSHA reps can walk the track on any ride at any time and any safety violation they see is a $10,000 fine. Each. Theme parks are not safe because the company cares. They're safe because it's cheaper to comply.

Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.

A month ago, I found 6 tiny kittens abandoned outside a convenience store. It was a hot day, and they had been left in a Tupperware tub. They were only about three weeks old and weighed around 200 grams each. They were so tiny and vulnerable. (1/3)

When the US burns to the ground, Canada sends firefighters and water tankers. Every time, no questions asked. When Canada is burning, our MAGA politicians respond this way. Every single thing they do and the way they communicate it is all designed to impress braincooked Nazis on X.

Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) intro'd a bill to revoke visas from Canadian officials + express a sense of Congress that the Canadian ambassador is a “persona non grata” til the smoke is gone. “We will not tolerate this incompetence,” vowed Moreno, who may not understand how climate change works

Lemme try to paint a picture to support this: in the before times, day temps used to be something like 25, 26, 30, 32, 24. Now they are 30, 32, 33, 34, 30. Huge difference! The forests are DRY, DRY, DRY. Doesn't matter how a fire starts, once it does, it just explodes. Trees literally explode 🌳💥😢

Remember, don’t waste any time arguing whether #ClimateChange “caused” the current #wildfires. Like EVERY consequence of the #ClimateCrisis, we KNOW that EACH WILDFIRE is made much more likely, and much worse, by the rapidly changing conditions from Climate Change. MORE LIKELY AND WORSE.

Reminder that Carney has cut funding for Natural Resources Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Indigenous and Northern Affairs, and Indigenous Services. And he has rolled back climate protections, abandoned emissions targets, and is building more pipelines.

Carney:

"The wildfire situation has escalated significantly over the last three weeks across the country, and particularly in Northwestern Ontario.

Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate their communities, not knowing if their homes will survive.

On behalf of Canadians, I want to thank the brave firefighters, first responders, Indigenous and local leaders who are working tirelessly to keep people safe.

Our government is in close contact with provincial, municipal, and Indigenous partners and stands ready to provide any additional support as needed."
