Let's try for 10:51am from Pukekohe. Kudos to Auckland Transport & Co for quick response - but they need to work on their PR in these type of events, RE taking ownership etc. #nzpol
Safe & Dry(just) back at home, with fresh coffee & croissant. As much as my frequent imitations of Victor Meldrew seem to bring as much delight to my friends as well my adversaries, I shall again attempt the train trip again today should the status turn green. [ at.govt.nz/bus-train-fe... ] #nzpol

Back at Pukekohe. Just made it to the loo in time! Because of further delays & less than ideal weather, I've decided to put off the trip for another day. Since it's been over two hours since I've tagged in, I've been charged $3 for a round trip ending up nowhere back to Pukekohe. Sigh. #nzpol

"To that end, I want to say to this House with complete surety that the neoliberal experiment of the 1980s has failed. The economics of creating unemployment to manage inflation is farcical when domestic inflation in New Zealand has been driven by big corporates making excessive profits." #nzpol 🧵⬇️🇳🇿

National draws another $250k in large donations, while Labour banks $50k from another union
National got a string of big donations in latest declarations, pushing its total take from large donations to $2.19m.

And if your complaining about unfairness in the New Zealand electorate process, how about putting all political party campaign donations into a common pot & dividing it evenly between parties already in parliament & with 10% of the donations given evenly to parties outside of parliment? #nzpol
1970s Political Nostalgia - Due to demand inflation: "Muldoon presented a crisis Mini-Budget in October 1970, which included a 10 percent surcharge on prevailing tax rates from December 1970 until July 1971. Technically, this raised the top tax rate from 67.5% to 74.25%." #nzpol

A thought: The Reserve Bank currently raises or lowers the OCR to control spending. Instead what if the RB could just set the rate higher for personal & business income tax at the highest tax band? This would still impact spending nationally, but also simultaneously raise government revenue. #nzpol
