Arguably, the thing that makes us human is refusing to let nature limit our capacity to survive - right back to the evidence of early humans with healed fractures. The "natural" outcome of a broken limb is to starve to death or die of infection.

One reason i think everyone should take an archaeology class is to internalise with tangible examples that there is no pure, natural past utopia and that antibiotics and vaccines are what stand between us and a 50% child mortality rate and scores of women dying needlessly during pregn and birth

Essentially a lot of the right wing lobby apparatus relies on Not Being Asked A Follow Up Question or Never Answering Follow Up Questions because either can pretty radically undercut their presentation as a representative group for free speech or taxpayers or whatever.

The Free Speech Union having their CE and board member stand as candidates for Internet NZ and emailing their members to rank them 1 and 2 and not rank any other candidates feels like it should be more of a news story. It's antithetical to a genuine election and the democratic process.

I have listened to enough of @mrxdentith.com's podcast to protest that there is actually no difference - theories about Epstein are absolutely conspiracy theories, they just happen to be true, as opposed to the conspiracy theories about giant reptiloids which (probably) aren't.

huge difference between a “conspiracy theory” and “a pack of pedophiles keeping quiet to protect themselves and prolong access.” none of the latter would benefit by talking about it.

New podcast! This episode I talk to the amazing Whaitiri Tua-Warbrick (@maoribytheriver on Insta) about his one of his favourite movies, 2004's 6-Hanks outing "The Polar Express" a movie which I describe as the result of attempting to describe Studio Ghibli to a space alien.
