Playing Chicken With Oblivion

Sad bastard. 🎶⚾️🏀⛳️😷📚🍺 Milwaukee Brewers | Bucks | Golf “You see, the life I live is sickening / I spent a decade playing chicken with oblivion / Day to day, I'm neck and neck with giving in / I'm the same old wreck I've always been” — David Berman

This is why MLB puts so many old umpires that aren’t great behind the plate in postseason games: they don’t get overwhelmed and make weird calls like that balk. The three base umpires didn’t see anything, including Wegner at first and Porter at third. Moscoso blew that by not deferring to them.

The Padres are a great team. I hate Machado for obvious partisan reasons, but they’re a likable team with great fans. If not the Brewers, they’d be the NL team I’d be rooting for to finally win a WS. They might’ve beaten the Braves/Dodgers if the seeds were different. Really fun series for baseball.

Garrett Mitchell caught that ball because we committed to booing Manny Machado eight years after the fact. We stuck up for Jesus Aguilar, Mitchell caught the ball. No doubt in my mind.

Dustin May can throw incredible pitches, but he seems to have very little conviction, confidence, grit, or resilience. I don’t remember that from watching him pitch for opposing teams; I wonder if he’s always been like this or if it’s something new. Not ideal given the prospects sent to St. Louis.

All the talk about the end of the Brewers game has me wondering what my own trajectory might have been had I not hit some obstructions myself, imagine how far I might have gone or where I could have landed if perhaps my own Padres had been different.

Someone with the White Sox must have noticed Altuve tends to stand with his heels in the grass. Weird to play that card now instead of waiting for higher leverage; maybe they figured it was use it or lose it. I thought they were right, but umpires probably demanded obvious evidence. Interesting!

It’s hard to fathom how far the Brewers have come. Irrelevant laughing stock to model franchise. Hopeless contraction candidate to perennial contender. None of this was likely. Don’t take it for granted. Cheers, Brewers fans!!!

Enough of the cheapskate act

As a lifelong Milwaukee Brewers fan, I’ve been a lot of things: humbled, embarrassed, humiliated, saddened. There’s one thing, however, that I have never been, and that’s betrayed. That is, until this...

Early Presidents Cup thoughts: - Medinah is unrecognizable in a good way; - the out of bounds fence is awesome; - the greens are much firmer than expected & hopefully will keep drying out; - the uniforms are super clean, but why is Adam Scott the only player wearing black shoes?
