Is it fun watching pundits talk to each other about elections? Sure. But it's also maddening watching pundits essentially think that only other pundits know anything about elections. This is partly why you're catching so much fire, guys. There's a big deep angry world beyond your social circles.

so a thing I have really noticed among the U.S. upper-middle-class is that they use babysitters far, far less than their parents' generation.

I used to cringe when a patient would come into the ER and say, “WebMD said…” Then I got on social media and realized people trying to diagnose themselves using WedMD wasn’t so bad. At least they believed in science.
