Aranock brings up a fantastic scene in a movie i thought was only so so. But the Sabotage drop is just a great scene. All the more so because it connects back to Kirk's first and best scene in that first movie of this new Star Trek incarnation (and it connects back to Kim Cattrell in Star Trek VI)

Sarah J. Jackson@sjjphd.bsky.social · 20h agoI think she’s doing a spectacular job showcasing her work. It is so rare to have this level of attention on an academic craft or expertise. Part of the reason academics struggle to do more public work is because the media cycle demands the hooks I mentioned. This is a genius use of that dynamic.
I have broken out of my grief rut at least physically. I'm doing a lot more these last two weeks than any previous two weeks since Pardner died. That's at least something i guess. I still get the cruel blue meanies out of nowhere, and I'd rather be sleeping 19 hrs a day, but at least it's something.

He's losing words. Anyone with a parent or loved one suffering from dementia will recognize this pattern. Wen he says "moving cameras," it's because he can't recall the word "videos" and so he's stating the component parts as best he can. E.g., a "camera" is involved and the images are "moving"

I bitch about the Guardians all the time, but i doubt only the owner's humanity, not the front office's judgment (I mean sometimes, yeah, but that's just baseball). They had themselves a hell of a trade deadline. They got 4 real guys for next to nothing. Not completely nothing, but next to it.
