Pulling a thread out of yesterday's college admissions discourse, another reason I think easing requirements responsibly would help dismantle the assumption of privilege college students get re: behavior.

A great example is to look at pictures of old offices and notice how much infrastructure there is for paper. The physical effort of moving the literal weight of paper was baked in to how we worked

Tech culture has a particular failure mode where people encounter a domain that is historical, social, embodied, full of contested definitions, and immediately assume the problem is that nobody has normalized the schema yet.

Doing a little research for a personal project, and a great example of this is every vendors' "X can't be done at human scale anymore, so you need our product to handle Y load".

I feel like I'd give a lot more credence to certain ponfifications if those doing the pontificating communicated the easily understandable basis of their pontificating first
Honestly, if you want to know what's driving X in the zeitgeist, it's that meta-content has more frequently passed actual content as a primary mover. See: most discourse about media on here
I know it's great to have managers that go to the mat for their team... but you should probably check if your team actually did the work before throwing down
