This is so disgusting. Force feeding is torture. It's extremely painful. And these poor people are being so mistreated by ICE that they are choosing hunger strike and then being tortured. ICE is beyond redemption and must be eliminated by Congress. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

‘What they’re doing qualifies as torture’: new details of ICE force-feeding revealed

Exclusive: cases of Afghan man, Ukrainian man and Saudi woman show repeated nasogastric tube insertions and lack of legal representation

I appreciate the city’s transparency and the efforts of DTM but this Is so bad (I doubt they’d disagree). Our real problem is most of our council who are car brained and will sacrifice any number of people if it means keeping the status quo and helping people get across the city 30 seconds faster 😡

It's wild to me how many people do not understand this. "Luxury housing" is not some ontologically separate category from the rest of the housing market. Nor is "affordable housing." It's all one big fluid market & when you build more, everyone moves up & frees up the bottom end.

The idea that the wealthy, the middle class, and the poor are all in completely separate housing markets with no overlap ignores how things work in the real world. In the absence of new high end housing, wealthy people outbid the middle class for the best available existing housing and renovate it.

This is peak both sides bullshit, because bike lane opponents don't care about "creating safe streets for everyone." They care about parking and being able to speed. And they draw false equivalences between drivers and bikers that car-brained pundits like Joan Venocchi lap up eagerly. Such garbage.

What should not be lost in the emotion of the moment is the need for balance and openness to different points of view when it comes to creating safe streets for everyone. The perception that both were lacking under Wu gave Kraft an opportunity on the bike lane issue. While he was never able to capitalize on it beyond the loud cheers he got for mentioning it at his announcement, he did force Wu to acknowledge there is more than one side to the bicycle lane debate. It’s the side of businesses that say they lose customer parking spaces to bike lanes as well as the side of pedestrians who dodge people on bicycles, e-bikes, and scooters who ignore red lights and other rules of the road.

Another day, another 💩 anti-bike editorial, this time in the Globe @gravelinfluencer.bsky.social Absolutely fact-free Joan Vennochi screed that says Vision Zero is unpossible and bikers choose their own deaths 😡 LET THEM KNOW THIS IS TRASH letter@globe.com www.bostonglobe.com/2026/07/22/o...)

Not Paris, not Copenhagen, not Utrecht.. SOMERVILLE MA. They are doing it. And just 40 miles away Worcester MA was just named the 4th most dangerous city IN THE COUNTRY. We are not so special. It *can* be done. Our council are deliberately choosing not to do it.

"Somerville has lowered speed limits all over..., repainted and shortened crosswalks..., added new speed humps, fixed sidewalks, expanded its bike-lane network, installed new bus stops and bus lanes and stepped up ticketing for distracted driving" AND ITS WORKED www.governing.com/infrastructu...

Good thread on the political context surrounding the horrendous, tragic, and preventable death of Louisa Gag in Boston. It’s maddening.

Ok. Here goes: 1/20 (I think) - For context it’s important to me to remember that safer streets were integral to @wutrain.bsky.social and her council tenure and I was there through all of it. It was one of her defining policy through lines, including a series of hearings that exposed how shallow…
