Vehicles with gas tanks larger than 16 gallons are primarily full-size pickups, large SUVs, & muscle cars that get 10-15 miles per gallon. Median cost of these vehicles ~ $70,000, if financed ~ $1300/month, plus insurance ~ $250 a month. But sure, complain about gas prices for your Sherman tank.

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

Berkeley is pretty dysfunctional, but we're incredibly lucky to have a band of passionate volunteer organizers for safe streets who are very good at what they do. One of them commissioned a poll last year that showed that, while safe street opponents are loud, that's all they are: loud.

One of many weaknesses violent drivers have, caused by driving, is belief that "everyone agrees with me that pedestrians should get out of my way." First of all, it's not "your way." Second of all, the social isolation you experience in your cage is no match for the growing outrage of most humans.

All the hysteria and rhetoric that consumed a community around these bike lanes ended and now no one talks about them and people use them (including those with mobility devices) all the time for work, school, play and everything in between. Change is hard for some people but we all adapt.

I think the mostly-urbanized American left will understand the threat of mostly-suburban/rural Confederate Republican traitors after Confederate states have supplanted the Constitution to the degree that only war will be able to undo it. Republican traitors are quite serious about ending the USA.
