It is a betrayal of our history and our authentic Alberta culture to suggest, for example, that new immigrants and refugees should be officially discriminated against, denied the chance to send their kids to school, or go to a hospital when they are sick.
Alberta has always been multicultural - back to its first Dene, Cree, Blackfoot and other Indigenous peoples, back to its first Scottish, Welsh, French, and English fur traders. We have always welcomed newcomers and they have always strengthened our shared community.

The reasons? He argues the decision was unreasonable, procedurally unfair, and inconsistent with purpose of Citizen Initiative Act.

It' been 68 days since the referenda were announced. Since then there have been ads, town meetings, door-knocking, online forums, and media coverage. Folks are still quoting from opinion polls done in March, April, and May. Are those polls still valid? And are they valid predictors for October 19?

In Alberta's 2021 referendum voter turnout was 38%--an apathetic participation rate. What will the participation rate be in 2026? Separatists allegedly "will crawl through broken glass" to be heard. Reading @rwarnica.bsky.social in "The Star" makes me think a lot of Albertans won't show up Oct 19.
