Researching interop in the NHS https://oli.zilla.org.uk

Loving this great work by @oli.zilla.org.uk to bring together into an clear and accessible form some of the Problems With the #NHS #FDP. Example - it's NOT ACTUALLY FEDERATED! github.com/olizilla/fdp... 'Federated' is just a word they used to pacify privacy campaigners and clinical regulators.

Me & Carlos built a soundsystem, set it up at Cherry Garden SEN school for GlastonCherry, and pulled the sub forwards so everyone could sit or dance ON the bass. It was rad!

A hand built soundsystem. orange and gold midrange speakers surround two large titan bass speakers with big wooden scoops. Hand blown glass surrounds the crown of tweeters on top. A giant orange subwoofer box with deep yellow ports sits on the playground in front of it ready for dancing on. Carlos stands to the right of it turning up the volume on a stack of amplifiers.

there is a lot to doing open source well! it's worth being intentional about why you do it. it should make onboarding devs easy, foster external contributions & help users understand the public value they help to sustain and your commitment to delivering auditable services. a public repo is step 1.

so what to do? Every repo should have a license, clear docs for the humans (and agents), minimal essential dependencies favoring builtins, comprehensive test cov, CI/CD flow with linting AND security scanning, w trusted publishing, and staged delivery a new baseline. that's a lot of stuff..

Has anyone figured out how to operate and govern complex, critical, transnational digital infrastructure? Yes! The dangerous radicals from [*checks notes*] the finance industry solved that problem… 50 years ago. SWIFT is a coop of 10,000 banks that does exactly that — and there are other examples.

Mythos' underwhelming results for curl are a great example of why Open Source is even more important now that we have access to these tools. curl is more secure because everyone can tinker with it. We should be doubling down on Open Source rather than closing projects in panic.

#Mythos finds a #curl vulnerability yes, as in singular one. https://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2026/05/11/mythos-finds-a-curl-vulnerability/

for anyone following my story arc: yes i am aware that it is illegal to work on IPFS and then IPS at the IIPP but here we are. I cannot change my characters.

me, a simple researcher trying to understand how to implement "International Patient Summary" records: ... Official European implementation guidance doc (haunted):

Defines "Family name" as given name.

Defines "Given name" as family name.

indicates that both may have more than one value, but doesn't allow for either to have zero entries.
