NEW ANALYSIS: London requires up to 28% FEWER electric vehicle charge points than predicted if we get smarter at utilisation and achieving a modest reduction in car ownership. 🙏 1/4

Great to see another *mega* month of EV sales, making up 30% of all new cars in June & 1/4 for H1 2026. According to @newautomotive.org, this means that the car industry is now ahead of the minimum sales share needed to hit this year's ZEV mandate target. www.thetimes.com/business/com...

UK electric vehicle sales hit record levels

Dealers say the milestone was reached thanks to the soaring cost of petrol, the increasing breadth of models and competition on price

Completely agree with Will Norman on this. This is a terrible example being set by the LTA putting more dangerous vehicles on the road, especially insensitive considering the incident at The Study school in Wimbledon where the destructive power of these vehicles was shown to be so deadly.

As cars get bigger & bigger they take up more space on streets & in car parks and pose an increasing safety risk to road users. 👏LTDA for raising this issue with Wimbledon & their fleet of 170+ SUVs for tennis players🎾 Wouldn't smaller safer vehicles be better? www.thetimes.com/uk/london/ar...

Despite London’s great progress, there's still much to do. We're seeing a much slower electrification of vans in the UK compared with our European neighbours. Just 10% of UK van sales are electric, compared with 78% of new vans in the Netherlands.

I’m issuing a high air pollution alert for London on Monday 22 June. Hot, sunny weather and pollution from continental Europe are expected to raise ozone levels. Please help protect yourself and others, especially vulnerable people, by reducing car journeys and avoiding engine idling.

More of this please 🙏 The UK is at a crossroads - more polluting & dangerous SUVs or more affordable city sized electric cars… it’s our future to determine and there is a lot that city leaders must do @london.gov.uk @willnorman.co.uk www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Good news! Ministers have finally given green light to new #NaturalHistory GCSE. We’ve campaigned so long for this! Big hats off to tireless advocate Mary Colwell 🙌 Now our young people will have a chance to get to know & love the natural world, to feel awe & wonder, & gain skills to protect it 🌷🌳🦡

Greet your child with a SMILE 🙂. Not a MOBILE 🚫 I was amazed to see this sign on a school gate whilst walking in London the other week.  It speaks to the crisis we are facing - social connections and interactions lost to smart phone addiction 👀 1/5

We’re disappointed to see that average bus speeds have fallen again and are now at their slowest since modern records began TfL has a programme of measures to improve speeds safely. We need to see these making a difference for the millions of Londoners who depend on buses #Bus

A close-up shot of a red London double-decker bus at night, with passengers visible through the upper deck windows. Superimposed on the right side of the image are graphic signs: a circular speed limit style sign reading "9.12 MPH" and a green rectangular warning sign with a yellow exclamation mark that reads "Slowest average bus speed on record". A small text banner along the bottom states "*slowest average London bus speed since modern recording methodology began in 2013/14".

London’s bridges are literally falling down, flyovers, tunnels too. I’m reminded of @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social blog on potential to save & reimagine Rotherhithe 🙏. Especially now a new tunnel purpose built for motor vehicles is open. We need a strategic approach cityinfinity.co.uk/2024/08/05/r...

Who’d have thought that reallocating a bit of car parking & road space would help a local pub thrive 🤓. This is the sort of quick & scalable intervention newly elected councillors can do to support the local economy and make neighbourhoods more people friendly 🙏 Kudos @islington-council.bsky.social

Cargo bike use in London has doubled. With petrol getting more and more expensive, is it time to think about getting one? Yes, says TV's Dr Chris Van Tulleken, it can save thousands. And it's good for our health & environment. Read all about it: cleancitiescampaign.org/want-to-save...

Want to save £4k during the fuel crisis? “Get on your cargo bike” says TV’s Dr Chris

Families can save thousands of pounds a year by ditching their car for an electric cargo bike - but many households cannot make the switch.
