This insanely out-of-touch government advice for kids on how to cross the road safely would be laughable if it weren't for the 443 children injured on London's roads each year.

Great to see another *mega* month of EV sales, making up 30% of all new cars in June & 1/4 for H1 2026. According to @newautomotive.org, this means that the car industry is now ahead of the minimum sales share needed to hit this year's ZEV mandate target. www.thetimes.com/business/com...

Completely agree with Will Norman on this. This is a terrible example being set by the LTA putting more dangerous vehicles on the road, especially insensitive considering the incident at The Study school in Wimbledon where the destructive power of these vehicles was shown to be so deadly.
As cars get bigger & bigger they take up more space on streets & in car parks and pose an increasing safety risk to road users. 👏LTDA for raising this issue with Wimbledon & their fleet of 170+ SUVs for tennis players🎾 Wouldn't smaller safer vehicles be better? www.thetimes.com/uk/london/ar...

Despite London’s great progress, there's still much to do. We're seeing a much slower electrification of vans in the UK compared with our European neighbours. Just 10% of UK van sales are electric, compared with 78% of new vans in the Netherlands.
I was delighted to open @cleancitiescampaign.org’s Future of Urban Freight Conference #LCAW2026 Working with business, London is making good progress in making freight & servicing operations cleaner, safer & more sustainable. I talked about EV charging, DVS, cargo bike growth & clean air.
I’m issuing a high air pollution alert for London on Monday 22 June. Hot, sunny weather and pollution from continental Europe are expected to raise ozone levels. Please help protect yourself and others, especially vulnerable people, by reducing car journeys and avoiding engine idling.

If TfL can put huge rapid chargers on the carriageway of London’s busiest roads, there’s no excuse for other authorities not to do same. As we rightly gear up for an EV revolution, we should be resolute that charge points don’t belong on pavements. @livingstreets.bsky.social @londonls.bsky.social
Who’d have thought that reallocating a bit of car parking & road space would help a local pub thrive 🤓. This is the sort of quick & scalable intervention newly elected councillors can do to support the local economy and make neighbourhoods more people friendly 🙏 Kudos @islington-council.bsky.social

London has committed to eliminating all road deaths and serious injuries by 2041 - but #carspreading is putting that at risk 🚗 ⬆️ Around a third of cars on London’s roads are now larger SUVs, making streets more dangerous, especially for children.
Cargo bike use in London has doubled. With petrol getting more and more expensive, is it time to think about getting one? Yes, says TV's Dr Chris Van Tulleken, it can save thousands. And it's good for our health & environment. Read all about it: cleancitiescampaign.org/want-to-save...

Carspreading as highlighted by @cleancitiescampaign.org is a massive problem in London and I'm glad we and the Mayor are on the same page about encouraging the use of smaller less dangerous vehicles.
15) Continue to evolve parking charges to better reflect the cost and benefits of different transport modes, making it cheaper to park the most space efficient vehicles, and look at ways to ensure bigger and heavier vehicles like large SUVs pay commensurately more.
