As the cishet roommate of an NB person who came out 5 years ago, we often discuss what a moving target the right moment to come out can be for LGBTQIA+ in a world that can’t decide if it wants to protect you or not. Happy national coming out day to every valid soul on either side of the closet door.

It just occurred to me that #FFXIV, which I sampled at ARR’s launch and had my definitive run from SHB to EW, was the last numerically sequential FF game I played and enjoyed. XV and XVI just could not grab me. IV is my all time favorite. XIV’s “community issues” sadly tainted my parting impression.

I started up the demo for Final Fantasy Resonance and got choked up a lot. I have such a storied and (thanks to #FFXIV) complicated, bittersweet relationship with the Final Fantasy franchise, dating back to its inception. I hope I can eventually enjoy the whole game, as it looks lovely!

I read this and immediately pictured President jazzhands showing up to whine and complain while Sylvanas and Bolvar were fighting. They momentarily turned their attention to laughing at him and making him a hammer-smashed arrow pincushion. 🏰🫲👱‍♂️🫱🔨🎯 #Warcraft #WorldOfWarcraft

A bluesky trend that reads "US Imposes Sanctions on ICC"

#Warcraft forever could perhaps benefit from taking its recent, ambassadorial “find your people” idea and extending it to observe that with great communal organization comes great responsibility, and if one is the inverse of a good, mass influence on the game, concede a need for mass counteraction.

I’d bet there are #Warcraft staff on bluesky aware of “the climate” regarding the roach motel that #WorldOfWarcraft forever feels destined to be, perhaps thinking “come on guys we have a narrow window for hype, please trust us,” and I’m sure some will grant that grace. I can’t fault those who won’t.

I mean i also note the panel of five white guys. Not something that would have necessarily bothered me but hey after repeatedly reading Asmongold's misogyny and knowing Blizzard doesn't consider that to be even a little bit of a problem is making me a bit sensitive

Observing this schedule calms my modern #Warcraft doomerism a bit, because we will be pretty much into TLT by the time WoWF is likely to mention more (dangerous) race or class exclusivity. “Letting WoWF have” its understandably intense unveil-to-release hype & infodump window is more palatable now.

I anticipate a lot of uh, *lively* classic v modern conversations once we get an idea of patch cycle cadence and the new offerings, seeing as how Forever has committed (subject to change) to a schedule

There are two songs that the YouTube hivemind have currently decided to use for shorts that I absolutely cannot stand. This happens from time to time, but it’s never been two at once before. App currently unusable.

Holy fuck, #Warcraft forever is like “soulstone bag and ammunition” level classic? Yeah I have zero interest in returning to that and I hope the hype kinda blows over after launch. That’s before we get into the Olympus-rot of it all.

As a rather verbose person, it's not often that I can point at someone else's well crafted wall of text and say "this," but while I am more the Modern #Warcraft Loyalist (I need my own time respected and WoWF intentionally cannot do that) than Sixsten seems wide eyed for Forever, basically: "this."

On the flight home from blizzcon I wrote up my thoughts on the subject, if you're curious, here's a link! dingos-hammer-oc6.craft.me/MSSoO4SUBWrEOb

I may have actually cracked the #Warcraft Forever code of "who is this for," and if I'm even remotely right, it's all quite vulnerable to bad actors. I'd say "I hope they know what they're doing," but I doubt it will impact me. I'm not gonna do a "make friends or fail" game at this point in my life.

I legitimately think they want people to assemble groups of 5 actual friends and treat Forever like their D&D campaign where no one has to DM. The grouping element seemingly requires a real loyalty and actual bonds. They want us to meet people that will be people to each other. Big ask in 2026.

It occurs to me that #Warcraft are kinda committed now to a remix every expansion, for as long as expansions flow like they do now, because if ever they stop, and don't occupy that space with a repeat of one, that's kind of a betrayal of understandable expectations on two fronts now.

Man, remember heirlooms? This was my pet #Warcraft issue for the longest time, but I just remembered them for the first time since the launch of Midnight. They're... just done, I guess. Present for those that own them, no longer supported. They'll get you to TWW levels. They'll bring you to the WSS.

Olympus stuff aside, I really question who #Warcraft Forever "is for." This article made me think that the vision really is "play alone, play with friends, or hope you meet some people with thick 2004 glasses about online gaming feeling new or novel." Good luck? www.icy-veins.com/wow-forever/...

WoW Forever Players Are Leveling Solo Because Grouping Slows Quests Down - Icy Veins

Quest drops aren't shared and zones are packed, so grouping in WoW Forever feels like a penalty. Here's what pushes players to level solo.
