Another huge problem with tying quality to morality - the idea that ethics affect quality is one of the biggest driving forces between attempts to prove bad writing is because of Woke. And if something is badly written and can be accused of Woke, this is used as evidence that Woke is why bad

“this person is bad so their work was always bad” is also a really dangerous view to take because it leads to - unconscious or not - a bias towards “but I do like this other person’s work, ergo they must be a good person” which, as we have seen over and over, is simply not true

What happens a lot on social media is when someone (Warren Ellis, Neil Gaiman now Ed Brubaker) has allegations thrown at them people tend to leap out the woodwork saying "their work was never good." That helps no one as it's irrelevant. What matters is their actions and what they did.

You know when someone's like... nice guy. Highly respected. Everyone seems to like him. Gets promoted to you all the time. And you can't put your finger on it, but you just know in your bones that if GamerGate started today he'd be very earnestly presenting it as about ethics in games journalism

the big AI danger is not companies suddenly inventing skynet - that's marketing rubbish, musk promising mars colonies by 2030 type stuff. the danger is companies claiming to have invented skynet and then putting what they actually have, a chatbot, in charge of stuff that's important

I actually cannot describe how much I desire a mount that has a little one-room house attached to it that you can go into and decorate. Imagine this: The mount is an entranceway and one single room. BUT it can be any room from your collection.
