I develop software in primarily imperative programming languages from JavaScript to Python to C/C++ and I have a preference for gamedev. I dream of working at a well-paid remote-only worker-owned cooperative. If such a place does not exist, or out of my reach, I think I want to start one. Maybe.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.  Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

i sometimes joke that social media is gamification of relationships for surveillance capitalism. i wonder how it would be if it was “ungamified”. does the numbers game make it addicting & keep us coming back? can *just* making connections with people, without that urgency for competition, be enough?

I'm slowly getting into astrophotography for fun. Here is M44 / NGC 2632 Praesepe a.k.a. Beehive Cluster in the Cancer constellation. Taken on a Canon EOS 550D with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens (already broke my bank with these, can't afford better equipment, so no star tracker too! 😂).
