<GONE ROGUE/FISHING> I try to make games. Sometimes I do. ADHD-fueled He/Him https://slideshowdreams.itch.io/ https://backloggd.com/u/SlideshowDreams/ https://letterboxd.com/SlideshowDreams/

It always bums me out a little when a survival horror game ties saving to a limited resource. It feels like a system designed for people who can easily glue themselves to a game without issue, and I can't always do that My ADHD-ass brain doesn't like artificially capping my ability to stop playing

For various reasons I haven't been able to blitz through Silent Hill Townfall quite as fast as I did with Control Resonant. But I'm starting to get near the end and it's been fucking incredible Hard to believe we've had a whole modern trilogy of SH that's been this varied and good

I like to joke that it took me ~7ish years to learn to block I tended to dodge more than block in action games, old habit. I assumed as an RPG, all play styles would be equally viable. And because Dark Souls has much a reputation for being hard, when it didn't work I figured that's just how it was

Happy 15th anniversary of your North American release, Dark Souls! (the ad is a euro one for its release a few days later) A sea-change in gaming and the one that really caught people's attention, buoyed by considerable promotion and hype for its release. Favourite Souls games and memories, peeps?

A great ad for Dark Souls with a group of warriors in various armour sets from the game, sat in a hospital waiting room with a lady in modern day clothing looking very nervous and squished up against a wall. A door with 'surgery room' above it is open to the right of her with fiery flames and a warrior about to get smashed

I'm in a very Signalis mood lately and it's proving to be a surprisingly difficult itch to scratch I just played it back in May, so ideally I'd love to find something new. But I might end up firing it up again for a bit just to soak in the vibes

everything about the jacob geller allegations is deeply upsetting and traumatising, from the details themselves to their being publicised on twitter by third party texts seemingly without any consultation with the victim to the armchair detective posting that followed

Fantastic look at Townfall. I've only just started playing and I'm blown away by the setting. If you haven't seen how beautiful and unnerving it is you should really check this out

#ad NEW VIDEO! I played SILENT HILL: Townfall and it got... quite close to home. The details of the in-game world are something that made the experience for me, so I wanted to make a lil essay focused on that <3 Thank you to KONAMI UK for sponsoring the vid! youtu.be/55mgRMzLcRw

You know, if Remedy ever wanted to *actually* make Severed Circle 2 as a little side project, I would play the fuck out of that. Just saying You know their take on a 16 bit RPG would go so hard

I'm only like 10 minutes into Silent Hill Townfall and I'm already convinced Screen Burn understood the assignment. Holy fuck this atmosphere *hits* Also Terry O'Quinn is in this? I had no idea but that's rad

Control Resonant is surprisingly melancholy. Behind all the big, trippy action you pass by a lot of small tragedies and people struggling to do their best in the wake of pretty overwhelming shit I can see why some folks felt the story starts off simple, but this thing's got some real weight to it

analog horror series about evil cursed retro video games except instead of a guy documenting it it's an avgn type asshole who never realizes the game is haunted AND THE FUCKING IDIOT SHOPKEEP JUST KEEPS TALKING ABOUT HANGING HIMSELF? THAT'S NOT GONNA HELP ME BEAT THE LEVEL! BAD GAME DESIGN MUCH???

The exploration in Control Resonant is so good. I keep stumbling into little parts of the map I didn't realize I haven't explored yet There's so much to see but it doesn't feel *busy* the way some open world things do. Feels like a very natural evolution of Control's scope in a less confined space

This is why I don't like Steam's user review system and it really confuses me why anyone would trust it Do you really want random anonymous losers like this having influence over your discovery algorithm? Influence over which games get a fair chance and which don't? Influence you can't opt out of?

I just found an account on Steam that has reviewed over 21,600 games... Most of them indie. Almost all of them negatively and at least several paragraphs long. Misery given flesh.

I think Control Resonant may take me forever to beat simply because I'm stopping to look at all the cool bits of architecture and graffiti and posters and ads and random bits of lore pickups. Remedy make worlds that I want to devour.

Whatever they're paying their technical artists at Remedy, it's not enough. They're still unquestioned champs of taking photorealistic rendering and then doing nightmarish things to it. The vapor effect that pours off Hiss enemies is still *so* good.
