I think it's both true that Israel is a colonial project that continues to engage in colonialism and that Israeli identity is in fact a real thing. The notion that without Israel all the Israelis would embrace their true wholesome identity as Europeans or Arabs or whatever is complete lunacy

I say this because I think that suggesting that peace between Israel, Palestine, and their neighbours is possible and is something that can and should be worked towards. This would necessitate thinking about these places and peoples as real people who mostly live ordinary lives and not abstractions

A major difference between the TEA party & current DSA led insurgency is that the TEA partiers treated being a Republican as good & called anyone to their center RINOs while within the Democratic left it is de rigeur to denigrate the Democratic Party itself
