One story for one post, finally consolidating everything into something. If life is like a rock you gotta keep rolling, and other stuff from the road. Pics & stories are mine, no politics please. best read out loud and fast

Outrunning thunderstorms way out west no room for squares thru Donner Pass rockies releasing late afternoon windshield rays speeding blind no reverse, steering with knees while cross referencing gas station folding accordion maps that all seem to suggest if you’re here you’re home. #nature #artsky

a pic from scouting for a long road out in the middle of nowhere for a shot of an electric race car to drive like 200 mph, this was north of Mojave, California.

Standing inhaling chaotic control Jackson Pollock reaches past art into Peggy Guggenheim’s Manhattan paint me exciting new deep soul, expose the beauty of fuck you to bop and pop to your own chorus just like Thelonious pulling chords from thin air seeing life as a personal dare #art #writing #story

Jackson's Mural (1943) while hanging at Boston Museum of Art, one of my favorite paintings and was blown away to see it in person, I really did feel his energy 70 years later. I usually don't mind iPhone quality photos but really wish I had a better camera for this shot. Anyway, I see horses their heads or maybe camels. also a kinda graffiti stroke to the images

Wrapping sitcom pick ups hurry to Carson’s studio for guest musician sound check Roy Orbison then head across street to Chadney’s in beautiful downtown Burbank old school steak cigs bourbon live jazz featuring Antonio Fargas, Huggy Bear, oh there’s Angie Dickinson having a burger #writing #film #pic

this was a camera check on one of our sets, all the PAs were sitting in for camera. I worked on Sitcoms at NBC from 1986 - 1988. None that you'd remember, then the writer's strike in 1988 hit and I was out of sitcoms, and on to reality tv to keep working

this was for a new channel named BIO, about people and their lives and here a woman from L.A. was going to survive in Alaska and was gon jump in the water. This was across from Juneau in background. And any where has to be approved by the property owner and approved by insurance for the danger of jumping in freezing water

Filling 4 hose hookah with mixed salad flavored lightning strikes creating an 8 lane car crash praying to find our voice always pushing on a pull door we never had no choice do you understand the thrill of jazz of stealing a car of outrunning the cops even if it’s only a brief moment #artsky #photo

we shot a series of polaroids and then scratched them up as they developed, we used a blue gun and everyone did whatever they wanted to pose/act with the gun. this is about 1993, Silver Lake, Los Angeles.

Talking to ghosts fucking with my head no escaping Christmas Carol midnight and tag I’m it, stop medicating your soul man up to embrace an honest howl no matter how mad, ghosts hate coward anything not living up to living cause you know once you’re dead regrets are the real hell 🔥 #poem #photography

The daily freeway car chase develops as some unlucky son of a bitch races west accompanied by chorus of cop cars fluid lane changes & staccato brake pedals thinking faster faster you fool take me to where there is no rule invent a passage that’s never had play fuck helicopters lighting your way #art

a tunnel on the PA turnpike through the mountains following old railroad tracks. the original story is much longer I wrote in a Bukowski bar on Western watching a car chase, I read the whole rant a few times at coffee shops

love finding these layered art works on the street, this was over in Echo Park near a food truck I liked. A lot of these were on those electric/corner light boxes - real smooth metal worked well. And yes, I tried everything so I could see what I could see.

Eating on the road hungry tired broke finding something not fast food but fast, scrolling road sign intuition wanting funky interesting affordable we hit Main Street options craving different but familiar can’t waste money on a bad choice, never order spaghetti at a roadside diner #food #photography

this was a fav restaurant while in Indianapolis, we found it by word of mouth by locals plus - it was called Bluebeard, from Vonnegut's book of same name, he was from Indy and set a few stories there. This is over in Fountain Square, a funky area a bike's ride from downtown. The owner is really cool and we used him in some of our shows. Oh the food is excellent.

throwing stones along west coast Big Sur on our way to San Francisco Haight-Ashbury festival weekend projecting experimental Super 8 on Fulton next to Jefferson Airplane’s old joint, Dead trippin few blocks over Golden Gate Park carrying mock coffin to mark the death of the Hippy #blackandwhite #art

this was from one of our road trips up PCH, not sure quite where probably up near Big Sur somewhere before we hit San Francisco, there was never a rush to get anywhere. And yes, you can see my stone throw up in the sky

Circling the Big Dig forever lost in Boston rolling down rental window Hey how do you get to- Shopping Cart Lady yells FUCK YOU, stopping at boiled peanut Georgia gas station- How do you get to, Cashier calls their cousin evolving adapting Mapquest Garmin GPS sometimes I like getting lost #urbangaze

another show on the road living from the dashboard, this was for a show in New Jersey and it was when Garmin was the best GPS which worked great on places you knew, but we got lost a lot on this show

drinking a case of peach moonshine helps finish paperwork in Branson Missouri what a strange land tucked into winding one lane aging traffic theater row, a very Brady 70s show Barry Williams singing dancing lost balance fell back AH thru curtains ta-da! bounced up that’s entertainment #photo #story

yep, my room at the Hilton on the White River in Branson, Missouri and my first case of peach moonshine about 100 proof, nice taste. I did find a moonshine maker that still was back woods and his was 160 proof and nobody I knew could drink it. I took it back to L.A. and nobody there could touch it.

Travel is a time machine moving from tribe to tribe, pre-internet show up blind cept word of mouth, walk into Colorado dirt parking lot bar complete with pickled egg floating in jar, SLAP crumpled bill on bar listen to Carhartt locals ordering Curs, what the hell is, Oh Coors😅 #travel #picofday #fun

back before internet and phone camera I didn't always have a camera or think about photos for my scrap book so I don't have any pics from my Colorado road trip, so here is a cool doorway from Melrose

prepping like Hunter S. for Vegas we gather supplies for annual Sunset Junction neighborhood party open door closed street fair heading to Sunset Blvd, Circle Jerks Sonic Youth X playing 3 stages, bondage biker pigtails mix with East L.A., ferris wheel rides for allllll my friends! #art #photography

Sunset Junction where Santa Monica Blvd runs into Sunset Blvd in Silver Lake Los Angeles, they had a neighborhood street fair every year when the locals did it, it was free. Then promoters got involved and then there were fences and then there were donations, then they tell me it was $20 and we stopped going.

I don't have any pics from Al's, when I was a regular I didn't have a camera, and phones were still attached to walls. This is one of my fav street art I ran across in Silver Lake where Santa Monica dead ended at Sunset, there was a little graffiti exterior abandoned art park, now it's a store

yes, hired local helicopter out of Talkeetna, Alaska airport to run sling loads up to our film crew on Denali, imagine getting just water up there - first it's already Alaska expensive then with helicopter costs & fuel, the cost of the cheapest supply went x4 as much
