I’ve been listening to the audiobook of Stolen Focus, and it’s become a hate-listen. It started out as relatively harmless self indulgent interviews with cognitive and behavioural scientists, but by the time he gets around to ADHD it’s a terrifying misunderstanding of basic scientific concepts.

It’s wild, I’ve had to join X and Threads to try and promote my survey more, and a) yes, X is still pretty gross and toxic, but b) I’m weirdly trying hard to only be my “professional persona” over there. Then I come over here and I’m like, oh hai, I’m a weird lil nerd who likes cute birbs and games.

I was today years old when I learned that Donnie Wahlberg in fact did not die of a drug overdose after NKOTB broke up, and my mother lied to me when I was a child to scare me off drugs. I mean, it seems like he’s doing some extremely sketchy things instead, so I think I preferred her version?

I don't need a summary of what's available online, in biographies, or even in my own notes. I need to comb through and find the great details, decide what interests ME. No, it's not efficient. It's slow and painstaking. But I don't believe in efficiency as an ultimate good, especially in writing. /
