The labor movement for office workers, student workers, nonprofit employees, staff unions, healthcare workers… for YOU! https://www.opeiulocal153.org/

153 also calls on @mayor.nyc.gov to veto Intro 175-B. Local 153 also represents higher education workers throughout NYC at Fordham, Pratt, Barnard, etc. We represent RAs and firmly stand with BOTH students and workers. The freedom of speech and assembly is not to be infringed on.

As a union that represents higher ed students, staff, and faculty (including at Fordham U), we are totally opposed to the bill in NYC restricting protests around educational facilities. We join CIR and @1199seiu.org in calling on @mayor.nyc.gov to veto Intro 175-B. www.thecity.nyc/2026/04/17/m...

Honored to have @opeiulocal153.bsky.social's endorsement! As federal protections waver, NY must be a fortress for labor rights. From the bargaining table to Albany, I’m ready to fight for state-level enforcement of good contracts, remote work, and protecting workers from ICE and AI displacement. 🛠️

We know the 4-day workweek works. At Kickstarter United, we’re pushing to make it permanent because we’ve seen the impact. It helps us avoid burnout, make space for life, and still launch big wins. We’re better workers and better people because of it.

Why a 4-day work week?
The bargaining unit members of Kickstarter United’s top priority in our next contract is securing a permanent 4-day workweek for all employees.

1. Health & wellness: The 4DWW allows us the opportunity to rest, reset, and refresh, reducing the likelihood of stress-related health impacts.
2. Well-roundedness: It allows us to balance work with family time, friendship, hobbies, and creativity, so that we can be more than just our job title.
3. Better employees: With one less day a week at our disposal, we develop creative solutions to work more efficiently to hit our goals and deliver business value. How the team spends their Fridays
“The 4DWW allows me to make more time for my family, who all live on the opposite coast from me. This includes a recent trip out to New York to celebrate my grandmother’s 100th birthday with her!” -Katja Cresanti, Infrastructure Engineer
“I have photosensitive migraines and since migraines can start at anytime, it’s sometimes challenging to stick to plans. Having an extra day on the weekend lets me say “yes” to more experiences with the flexibility to push off plans a day instead of canceling outright. It also gives me a day to recover so I can feel my best during the work-week! Last weekend I went onion picking at a farm in upstate NY.”-Lilit Balagyozyan, Senior Product Designer
"We are our raising our first baby, which takes time to figure out how to be a parent while also making time to do things I love like being outside. There are many factors to work-life balance and adding a child certainly adjusts the equation. The 4DWW gives me the flexibility I need to balance my and my family needs, while making me a better, more productive teammate at Kickstarter.” -Nathan Nalevanko, Senior Outreach Lead (D&T)
"The 4DWW allows me to travel, refresh, and reset while using fewer vacation days. Last week I was able to travel to Ireland and France with my fiancé!” -Hillary Taverna, Senior Product Manager
"The 4DWW allows me to volunteer and organize events for the LGBTQ+ Desi community in LA, who are my extended chosen family!” -Shubha Rajan, Software EngineerEverette (the CEO of Kickstarter) agrees!

"I decided to move us from a pilot to a more permanent move to the 4DWW [...] Ultimately it came down to the well-being of our employees. People were living more well-balanced and healthier lives and we had maintained productivity. As a CEO, I have a responsibility to take care of my people, not just make revenue.”
